In the younger rubber plantation crops, pineapples are planted in between the rows to keep an income coming in, as the rubber plants take seven years to mature. We picked up two tourists who were Chinese or something similar. They were way out in a remote area, in a massive resort that looked very luxurious. We went in for a toilet stop then headed off to the jungle for our elephant ...

... who was so badly beaten when she was kept as a pet that when she came to us we had to amputate one leg and one arm and on the hand she does have, gibbons from her previous owner where she had been thrown in a cage with them had attacked her and bitten off some of her fingers so she only has 2 left. Tam is therefore the only gibbon we have to apply medicine for – we apply a cream to her elbow as she sleeps so unnaturally with her remaining limbs that she has a bad ...
