Day 1 Hammamet

... I settled down to sleep. However with constant beeps of a medical emergency, I failed in this task. Thankfully the patient survived the trip and the rest of the flight was uneventful.

The view from the aeroplane window was breathtaking; Paris at dawn was amazing. The lights of the busy city with sun rising was beautiful.

When we landed the sun was shining in Tunisia. It was a ...

At night, we went to port el kantaoui where we had dinner in front of the parked boats, then we went to an amusement park and had an incredible time ...

Taxi (15DN) to Sousse. We wouldnt normally get taxis like this, but with four of us it was an easy option. Medina in Sousse was much bigger than in Monastir and walls on outside were impressive. Ribat was less interesting though, but still good views across to the Kasbah and ocean. Had lunch in a small cafe, just inside walls on far side ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Le Sultan Hammamet

    Una struttura meravigliosa

    from anonymous

Personale cordiale.

    from reerach

    Really nice hotel, staff friendly

    from reerach

I have just returned for 7 nights at this hotel as part of a horse riding holiday booked through a company called Hidden Trails. The hotel was lovely I had a sea view room on the second floor of the hotel, I found all of the staff friendly and eager to help. I was on half board the breakfast and dinner selection was great and all of the food was fresh with plenty of choice for everyone. The highlight of the week was the horse riding at the stables attached to the hotel. The horses are fantastic with levels catering for experianced through to beginners, the tuition was first class and I would definately return with no hesitation. I rode everyday with the scenary varying from Beach to Mountain and Orchard to Sand School lessons, this stables is a real find and I can not reccomend it highly enough.

    Wirklich schönes Hotel, freundliches Personal

    from reerach

    Maravilloso lugar

    from anonymous

    from NicholasG4

    Wonderful property

Dear travelers, I have just spent a magnificent week of holidays to Hammamet. I discovered (me and my girlfriend) a hotel full of charm with an astonishing sight on the sea. The service was perfect and the staff very careful. We appreciated a lot the quality of buffets.

The decoration of the hotel is fabulous and we plan to return very soon to enjoy another stay. I recommend particularly this hotel which guaranteed an irreproachable quality in any points of view.

Review of the Le Sultan, Hammamet

Tunisia is great but just DO NOT STAY at the Le Sultan, Hammamet. It's been a nightmare. I had a taxi arranged a week in advance and it never arrived even though I got a sent receipt on my email and having talked to the front desk of the hotel the day before arriving. Arriving at a completely empty hotel, the front desk gave me a room with a view of the building below and not the sea - strike two. The staff at the front desk were unhelpful and actually disdainful. OK a bad start. My wife and I then went to restaurant and had an awful meal which cost an arm & leg. Gosh it was not a nice start at all. The next day, we went to the gym, incidentally my shed is better equipped, and nothing seemed to work. We then spent most of the time outside the hotel. So we had been promised a double bed but got two singles only - remember the hotel was empty??? And one day, this being a four star, we found that our room had been ignored on the cleaning cycle, so no towels and non arrived even when ordering them. Four stars from a Fawlty Towers sketch I think. The swimming pool was indoors but cold and then closed at 9pm, remember we were staying when the weather meant that the indoor pool had to be used - the ill equipped gym closed at 7pm...??? The rooms were badly decorated, trying to hide a bad job by putting modern fixtures in them. Then to compound everything, the air conditioning didn't work. We almost froze one night and then baked the next.

So the nightmare was confounded when the manager, Mr Allani, at the end of our stay, identified that a mistake had been made and we had to pay an extra 11 pounds per night - no good will - nothing. So I would recommend you do not stay here - we went to the neighbour hotel for a meal and really enjoyed it - just wished we'd stayed there instead - as the staff were so gracious...you live and learn...please contact me if you have any questions - obliner@hotmail.
