... short, the damn route got us lost and we ended up doing another massive detour. At rixheim, we eventually turned around to try to find any kind of river to camp on. Rivers are nice. We didnt find the rhine, but ended up staying on the banks of a kittle canal which was super pretty and a fair distance from any dodgy dog walkers!

From laufenburg onwards... for the next 3 hours to be precise, we didnt find a single open restaurant. Not one. Absokutely hopeless. Eventually, we asked locals, and through a detour of rougly 10km we finally found food. Pizzaaaaa!!!

... Even my little home town is buzzing on a Sunday morning. We did happen upon a military ceremony of some kind. They had a bugler, lots of French flags and they played the French national Anthem.....wish I could remember the words....Sheryl?? ... the four of us walked to the palace, it was absolutely beautiful and masterfully crafted. We took the a guided tour of the interior of the palace (the only way you can see inside the palace.) The paintings, carvings, fabrics, and views from the windows were breathtaking. The craftsmanship was tremendous.
