... inspired the modeling of the Statue of Liberty (as Mom and I learned when we toured the inside of the statue in 2011) and also because the boy in the painting was the inspiration for the Gavroche character for Victor Hugo when he wrote Les Miserables, but this painting is on permanent loan to a branch of the Louvre in the north.
