Le Sefcotel Tignes

hello everyone!

so we got to London at 5PM on Saturday, jumped on a coach and went to France. We got there around 11.30AM on Sunday and just chilled out for the rest of the day, were a bit dead from the coach journey. there wasn't any snow when we got there.... got a bit drunk in the chalet in the evening but couldn't go out as nowhere was open!

Monday we got up and it had snowed overnight and it hasn't stopped since! started training, got uniform etc ...

... out from lack of oxygen I was able to gather myself and enjoy some really amazing views along with a packed lunch. After the mountain trek we went into the small ski town and enjoyed some of our "favorite brewage and enjoyed the surroundings" (per request of prof. Delmar).

head to the Sports Bistro and have a beer and see how my appetite
was. The bar was like the local Cheers bar as many groups of friends
were hanging out. One thing I have noticed in Chamonix, there are
many dogs, and perhaps more Golden Retrievers than I have seen in one
location in Europe. It is also not unusual to see the dogs with
their owners in bars and restaurants and the Sports Bistro was no

over 15,000 feet. It is a very impressive sight from the town and
once I arrived in the town center, climbers and hikers were arriving
from up above as the day was ending. It was about 60 degrees and I
sat out and had a beer before heading back to the hotel to read up on
the restaurant recommendations. I ended up at a restaurant about a
block from the hotel and had a nice meal of pork, mushrooms and
fries. Back to the room as the first day jet lag was ...

... it doesnt look like a cleanup is happening, rather just a slowing down to go through it. Its getting quite late although the GPS says that will be there by 7pm. We are paying for a few tolls, but the mountain views are worth it. We can see Mont Blanc and the glacier that is on the next mountain ans we wind our way through the outskirts on Chamonix, our GPS knows where out hotel is..which is in the middle of town. ... for Jon... he said he was so nervous he forgot how to speak French. Anyway, the next day we wanted to go mountain biking but by the time we checked out, all the shops were closed from 12-3 and we couldn’t rent anything anywhere. I think everyone closes up shop and goes out to play... sweet jobs.

About midday, we got our first views of Mont Blanc, or Monte Bianco, as the Italians know it. As we turned off the motorway, we could still see it, until the narrow winding roads took us across the other side of another mountain.

As we were next to the Alps, we decided to go trekking around Chamonix for a couple of days, and get some fresh mountain air. Nats felt at home as the place we stayed in Chamonix was the exact same as where she stayed 4 years ago when she came skiing here!!

The reason I went to France was to go skiing at chamonix/Mont Blanc, which i did and it was fantastic and i will be doing again very soon before i get tied up.. while i was there i did the world famous ski run Valley de blanche you ski over a glacier. which is amazing, the veiws you get on theis run are spectacular. definately take a camera.
