... expensive bikes will be a bit of fun as well.

We disembark at Calais and were off. East bound, Germany in our sights. Just the one stop in France overnight on the way.

Things got a little testing for me though, after only a few hours. I will spend about eight hours on a motor bike over a twenty four hours period, and most of it was in cold rain with a chilling wind.

Spent the day in Paris catching up with Baz and Rob while trying out an assortment of activities along the Seine, interspersed with a few beers by the water. I actually felt like being on holiday for a day or so.

... Decided to. Rave the crowds, and walk up to Sacre Coeur Cathedral. We couldn't go to mass, as it was too late, but we could go for a visit. Beautiful church which sits up high on the hill overlooking all below. There were thousands of steps, and people to go through and it was a hot day, but we managed it. It's a shame that along the steps there are very bad smells of urine which on a hot day are oppressive. Lots of beggars lined the steps too, which makes me sad. Everyone says ...

      ... in Calais safely.

We had decided to try and get to Switzerland toll free (on the recommendation of people on the Caravan Talk forum) using the route through Belgium & Luxembourg, and as all their autoroutes are free and actually shorter than through France, it seemed like a good idea...
