... expensive bikes will be a bit of fun as well.

We disembark at Calais and were off. East bound, Germany in our sights. Just the one stop in France overnight on the way.

Things got a little testing for me though, after only a few hours. I will spend about eight hours on a motor bike over a twenty four hours period, and most of it was in cold rain with a chilling wind.

Spent the day in Paris catching up with Baz and Rob while trying out an assortment of activities along the Seine, interspersed with a few beers by the water. I actually felt like being on holiday for a day or so.

... off we went out of Paris. Once again, Michael did a good job and soon we were on the highway heading for the Ardennes. Still hadn't booked a place, which we weren't too happy about. Michael was trying to please everyone. The drive was lovely through hills and wide open spaces. We took a detour through a tourist drive and looked for signs which might indicate a cabin or b & b but no such luck. Finally arrived in Charleville-Mezieres and first motel we stopped in was closed. It had the ...

    ... in Calais safely.

We had decided to try and get to Switzerland toll free (on the recommendation of people on the Caravan Talk forum) using the route through Belgium & Luxembourg, and as all their autoroutes are free and actually shorter than through France, it seemed like a good idea...
