... cafes are closed. When it starts to get to that time of the day the kids become ticking cryme-bombs. We found a grocery store at a small town somewhere along the route, and managed to pick up some sandwiches just before it closed. We had our dinner in a little neighborhood park in this small town somewhere in the Loire valley. We were greeted by a friendly kitty that hung out with us and kept the kids chortling with its antics.

... the GPS was set to avoid tollways which is why we had such a scenic route yesterday. So had a much speedier trip today. Although we did pay for the privilege. 18 euro for one of the tollways.

Chateaux Chambord was a bit of a stress and apart from a rather awesome Central spiral staircase there wasn't much to look at. Didn't help that there was some kind of renaissance fair going on that involved a lot of shooting and some dog/frisbee ...

... Lily very generously decided that if she was the queen and she had that much money she would just give everyone £100. I also learned something new today. Apparently at one stage the chateau was given as a gift to the King of Poland because he married some French King's daughter. Did anyone know that Poland had had a royal family? Not me. Walking around the chateau got to be too much after a while and ...

... a 22 mile wall. They had very fancy beds with curtains above them and nearly every bedroom had a servant room. There were olden day carriages on display behind glass and there were bits of the castle that they had to rebuild and the old ones were in a room. There was an enormous clock. After we the chateau we went to a new campsite, it has two ridiculously small parks, one really fun exercise thing and a fun swimming pool.
