Paris to Cologne went well, we got up early to be ready for the pre booked taxi which the voucher said should happen (unlike the previuos)s one which had the wrong hotel and the wrong time. He arrived on time, he spoke good english, all was good. We arrived at Gare Du Nord and Mom talked to the information people who said said it was under control …
Gutten tag, Welcome back to my travel blog! This time around it's a little more business than pleasure, but I will be sure to enjoy myself on the weekends and share some photos and stories along the way. I've now been in Hamburg Germany for two weeks. I hit the ground running with the superbowl starting at 1230 am on my first night here. My first …
... After Oma made us pancakes we drove to Hamburg airport and flew to London. My dad’s friend Chris picked us up and we stayed with them. He has two girls, their names are Delila and Tabatha. We played with them and we made jokes. We went to bed really ...

Of course we end up going out the night before a travel day, but least Celle is not too far away. Tomorrow we are off to Celle to see a brand new place in small town, ...
Wednesday 11 Sept
We woke up at a reasonable time in Koln and headed straight to the
train station. From there we caught the train to Hamburg. The train
was pretty crowded so we ended up changing seats multiple times to
make way for people with reservations. Getting off was a drama as we
couldn't get past the people in the other carriage to get our bags.
We had to rush off the train, push in line to get ...
How has this hotel rated in the past?
Lovely room. Great view from the restaurant. Helpful staff. Not the best internet access. Very quirky lift music made the ride more interesting than at any hotel we have stayed in.

I stayed here with my Husband for a week to celebrate our first Anniversary. We had told the hotel when making the reservation that it was a special occasion and asked for a nice room as high up in the hotel as possible. We had booked a superior room with panoramic view of the lake.
We stayed here for 1 night and everything was brilliant.
One of the best I've stayed in
I have visited this hotel twice, in August 2004 and August 2005. On both occasions I have been really impressed with the standards at this hotel. Situated on the Alster Lake the restaurant and bar on the top floor are a must, not just for the great food (try the fish) and German beer but the great view over the lake. The rooms are spotless, the bathroom impressive - the roll top bath and walk in shower just two of the benefits. Staff were friendly and courteous on both occasions. You are 10 minutes walk from the shops and there's always the lake itself. On the basis of these visits I have now made a reservation at Meridien's hotel in Vienna and trust it will be of an equal standard. 10 out of 10.
This is one of meridien art and tech type of hotels (Hamburg, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Turin, Vienna). Booked the trip after reading many of the reviews for this type here at tripadvisor. By checking in as a meridien moments member I was upgraded to a junior suite in 9th floor with alster view. Stayed for 3 nights with my wife and daughter in August 2005. High expectations were by far exceeded. Loved everything in this hotel. The Design of the rooms/hotel is absolutely fabulous with intriguing Art elements in all hotel spaces, creating the most inspiring hotel surrounding I have experienced with its spare sleek furniture, sculptural lightning and Asian-inspired colour combinations. Technical equipment is superb. Spa facilities (very nice indoor pool, sauna, gym) are first class. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is fantastic. All the staff from reception (perfect parking!) and concierge to room attendants and service within the restaurant was excellent - extremely friendly without ever being in-your-face. From other five star hotels we stayed in, it seems that getting this balance right is quite difficult. Courtesy is absolute priority. We felt so welcome. Were offered a cookie with our daughter´s name and a basket with fresh fruit on check-in. Location is excellent with close proximity to central station, "Jungfernstieg" and inner city centre. Lake-view on the "Außenalster" from higher-level rooms and the restaurant in the 9th floor is breathtaking and finally turned our stay into a truly unforgettable experience. Definite first choice for all those tired of heavy furnished five star locations with small rooms and either lacking or weak climate aggregates and one of the best hotels in Europe. Gets close to Adlon and George V ....
Excellent, prime location
We stayed in a spacious junior suite, with cool and hi-tech interior
and two flat screen televisions. We were recommended the courtyard
view and did not regret it because of its quietness. For a breathtaking
view of the Alster enjoy breakfast or dinner in the top floor restaurant.
Valet parking costs EUR 18/night and worked smoothly. Minibar is free of charge - so make the most of it during your stay. The hotel is located about 1 km from the city hall and fine shopping possibilities. The nearby Kepminski is an excellent choice for lunch. Pia & Ole Bernth.
Excellent modern hotel in good location
This hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed in. Its a little difficult to get to when driving there for the first time, but when there its great.
The rooms are modern, clean and exactly what a modern traveller looks for. The restaurant on the 9th floor has fantastic views and is worthy of a long drink as sunset approaches.
Food in the hotel is generally good, breakfast was very nice, although the orders from the menu can sometimes go astray on their way from the kitchen.
Overall a true 5* experience.
5 star luxury. Modern yet not too intimidating.
Restaurant and bar have great views across the water.
Great rooms - flat screen TV and a new entrant in the top 10 showers of the world competition
Nice but ,...
Quite good, helpfull and friendly staff . Could know english better. Did not get what we ordered at all or got what we did not order !
What I did not like/understand is why smoking is allowed in the breakfast restaurant.
Still would consider going again.
Modern but comfortable
Very nice Hotel located adjacent to the water. The rooms are very modern without sacrificing function for form. Loved the bed, the big tub and the shower, and even had a chance to watch the olympics on the flat screen TV. The only question I have is why European hotels like to mount the hair dryer in the closet. Overall, the rooms are both cool and comfortable.
Although a bit expesive, the breakfast buffet is excellent. The lobby bar had a cheesy piano player (fine except when he sang) but the bar on the 9th floor has a great view.
I highly recommend this hotel, and will definately stay here next time I'm in Hamburg.
