Lovely day for walking. Felt really quite easy going. Couple of rests. Usual lunch of banana/mars bars. (What did pilgrims eat before such things were available?). Spent some time walking on the old roman road as used by Sigeric the Serious c AD 990 (he is credited with writing the first guide book for the route). Road been used for well over 1000 years and still no service stations. Speaking of which I am not sure if I had ...
Just managed to pack up before the rain started. Just makes it so much easier. Had pan au chocolat for breakfast while walking. Did the waterproof waltz all morning. Put them on, take them off, repeat endlessly. Long day made even longer by the mile detour to find the suggested (ie only) accommodation. Was in some sort of home for mentally handicapped. (Insert your choice of joke here. ) All I can say is that they are treated better ...
... Except it was a couple of miles out of town the wrong way. They were a wee bit surprised when I declined. Ended up in a municipal campsite also a couple of miles out but at least on my route tomorrow which brings it down slightly to 23 miles. Every little helps. Campsite better at 11€ rather than 42€ for the hotel. Even has ...
