For the last couple weeks my Italian culture class has been on and off again because my professor was hospitalized with pneumonia. This week she finally resumed lectures, however we are in a different class room that is literally right across from her apartment so she doesn't have to walk a long way in the cold. And it is getting really cold in Siena right now.
This, unfortunately, means ...
... we left. I couldn't believe all of these older people stayed at the club until 5 am dancing. This would not happen in America. It was such a great cultural experience though and it made Vilmo happy we joined him.
By the end of my ten days we were very close to finishing all of the olive trees especially be two other wwoofers joined us. Rebecca the American girl from the summer who was in the play came back to help at the farm and her friend Kristian ...
... one of Italy’s greatest Gothic churches, and we could see why. Like the famous Duomo in Florence, Siena’s Duomo – completed by 1215 – was quite beautiful from the outside, containing a gorgeous red, white, and green marble façade. Inside, however, the Duomo was even more spectacular; it has an exquisite patterned marble floor that contains 56 different panels depicting historical and Biblical subjects!

Stayed at Affittacamere Patrizia Hostel in Rio Maggiore in Cinque Terre and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
When we got to the Hostel it was just an office and no one was there. Our keys were stuck to the door with instructions on how to get to our dorm room. There was another set of keys there too so we could have taken those too and ...
... they grow this "world's largest squash"! On to San Gimignano - Tuscan's best-preserved medieval town. By the time we arrive, I'm starving so we go to Restaurante Dorando for lunch. This place had 3 stars in our handy Frommer's Florence and Tuscany Day by Day book. We have an incredible lunch - food was spectacular and service was superb! Wine...fabulous. Big thumb up for this place! (Smig) 1997 Il Poggio Brunello di Montalcino ...
San Gimignano, Italy esmigiel... on his advice I went there today, and the gardens were indeed lovely, what little of them I saw. Unfortunately, twenty minutes after I arrived, a freak thunderstorm appeared out of nowhere, with thunder and lightning and wind and hail to rival anything I've seen in my native Tampa Bay, the lightning capital of the world. Trees were urooted, and I and many other hapless visitors stared in awe at the fallen trees as we made ...
Florence, Italy laura99... the square center. Well he was the same color as the Statue of Liberty. I said that David knocked up lady liberty and this was their offspring. Look at the photo...that's what he really looks like. After the square, we walked up more steps until we finally made it to the church. The church was very pretty for some reason, we just left the main duomo in the center of Florence, but I found this church to be more beautiful. It was a Sunday, and there weren't many tourist up ...
Florence, Italy jaredten... sauce, crepes with spinach and ricotta cheese in a cream and meat sauce, grilled beef steak, and osso bucco with cream of mixed vegetables and tomato. We were so full after hors d'oeuvres and our first course, that we had to force ourselves to eat at least some of our main course, since it was so good. And the price... it certainly was the least expensive dinner so far. Definitely a place I would recommend if you ever find yourself in San Gimignano. It's a gem!
