... kilometres up the coast from Dunkirk. There was a bit of a breeze as we
walked along the sea front reading the information about the D-Day landings
that took place along this stretch of the shore. By the time you read this, we
will be home – the wifi on the boat is down so no internet connection.

Time to start planning our next trip.

... Eeklo. As soon as we crossed the border into France, the standard slipped noticeably. From Bray Dunes we made our way the fifteen or so kilometres to Dunkirk / Dunkerque / Duinkerke (depending where you are from). At last! I'm retired fully. My leaving presentation ended with lots of requests for the address of this blog.
Finally, Monty had the last bits and pieces packed and Smartie was attached.

... to say we took it! It was another scorching day in paradise and neither of us had been on a ferry out of Dover since the eighties, so we were well wrapped up in the moment. 80 pounds to cross the channel with a campervan still seems pretty reasonable to me, but then the price of stuff in the UK generally seems a lot cheaper than NZ, diesel being the exception at almost twice the price.
