Took the ferry from Calais to Dover today and saw the white cliffs of Dover. Only a two hour journey then bus to the Cumberland for the night. Was invited for dinner with Bernie and Maddie. While in Belguim we decided to
visit the Flanders Fields and Tyne Cott Cemetery. We had to catch a
couple of trains. The ticket lady told us the platform for the
connection, which we got on headed off again. It wasn't until we got to
the end of the train line that we realized we had gone 45 minutes in the
wrong direction… Oh well back on the train we got, this one was quite
nice, a little newer than the last and maybe ...
... get to see, and I've loved every minute of it, it's slightly depressing to think that the adventure is over, but it's not really it's just starting.
Next adventure is in Cyprus for the wedding and it's going to be a very busy time for us as we still have to sort out wedding papers, outfits, bridesmaid dresses, flowers etc.
I'll come back and tell you about the wedding.
We're to leave with the ferry to Dover at 12:00 noon......at least we thought so. Everything is ready.....we thought. Just hop on the ferry and over to Dover we go.....that was the initial plan, but then we ran into trouble: There was an evil witch at the counter of the ferry office just looking for her next victims to add to her long list of casualties! Just think of this - We had the doggies papers all ready, they got all the vaccinations nessecary, ...
Dunkerque, Flemish for "church in the dunes" (dun....kerk) is only about 10 miles from the Belgium border. Now I find this Flemish thing quite confusing, because I had always believed that Flemish was the language spoken by all Belgians. However, I now find out that Belgians in the North speak Dutch and in the South speak French. So what is Flemish? Well it seems I was half right. Turns out it is a language spoken in Flanders ...
