    ... way to Les Halles the big market place. It's undercover these days but was very interesting. While I meandered through the streets I came upon a shop with some black jeans. I wear only black jeans so of course I had to try them on. The sales assistant had very little English.     ... Very old, very narrow, and very stone. Then to Avignon to stay right in the centre of this walled-city. Hotel de L'Horloge overlooking the main square - had to park 700 metres away and 'drag' though. Walked the inside for a few hours, found an Irish pub for a pint and then observed how the palais and cathedral looked at night. Beautiful.     Today was St Remy de Provence day, home to famous artists like Van Gogh. We also saw the house were Nostradamus was born. It is very touristy but the old part is very pretty.

    Sunday 28 September

    Went to the brocante fair and market at L'isle Sur La Sourge. It was brilliant. There was stall after stall of vintage and antique silver, lamps, books, porcelain, you name it. The prices were higher than in other places but it is known as the antique capital of Provence.
