... an awkward breakfast with the Belgians and a failed attempt to pay for the room with our non-European VISA. Note to anyone planning a trip to the EU: GET A CHIP AND PIN VISA OR MASTERCARD (not AmEx)! It will save you TONS of headaches in every store, gas station, tollbooth, and hotel/restaurant. ... Beaune is the Hotel Dieu, a hospice built in the 15th century. Very impressive. We also visited a wine museum housed in a ducal residence from the 16th century, so both the building and its contents we're interesting. The sight of the day was while visiting the Hospice where we saw that a young couple had brought their two juvenile cats along in a shoulder bag. The cats did not seem very happy! ...

Breakfast in our private courtyard, shaded by the vines and fig tree. Not bad. Fresh croissants, coffee and quiche lardon from the boulangerie nearby. Wandered around Beaune, visited some of the wine cellars an tasted some good wine. Splashed out on a bottle of Gevrey-Chambertin 2011, beautiful. At lunch we found a restaurant that was well rated on trip advisor, Les Grilladines. The food was supposed to be very good, but the staff surly. ...

Really lovely day,, mainly overcast but sunny for the last couple of hours.
Just parked the boat and will be able to get fuel and supplies in the morning before heading for Redon and stepplng the mast, will be good to get all the sails and the boom and spin pole out of the cabin,
