    ... wine growing areas of France with Beaune hosting a famous wine school. Cate’s and my apartment last year and my hotel this year both sit on the edge of a small square in the middle of Nolay’s old section. Virtually every building on the four sides of the square is mediaeval. It is the cutest ancient square I’ve ever seen.

    Beautiful clear but cool sunny morning. Set off North to Shop stop at La Plesne. We join the canalised Villaine river just north of Avessac and find a quite table for lunch. It is sunny with a pleasant cooling breeze. 4 pm finish by the Villaine. Lovely wooded but sunny spot right by the river.
