... totally forgotten about the extra course that my meal came with - cheese! Placed in front of me was a rather hefty wedge of semi-soft cheese with a salty rind upon crushed walnuts and little pieces of toasted 'pain d'épices'.
After eating ALL of that we got on to dessert. I had a massive crème brûlée and Alyssa had some pain d'épices and ice cream.
... high, so we had a relaxing morning instead. Since being in France, we have seen a lot of 'Desperate Housewives' which I never once watched back home but it's the only show in English here! So, we may have watched an episode or two of that this morning. I know, we're terrible. Plus now I'll have to watch it on Netflix when I get home, because it's addicting!

Beautiful clear but cool sunny morning. Set off North to Shop stop at La Plesne. We join the canalised Villaine river just north of Avessac and find a quite table for lunch. It is sunny with a pleasant cooling breeze. 4 pm finish by the Villaine. Lovely wooded but sunny spot right by the river. We sat and read for 2 hrs before white muscadet, rice veg and fish and bed at dusk. Coldish night, just warm ...

JUst have to mention all the eclusiers (lock keepers to you and I) especially Guy and Karen who were helpful beyond the call of duty.

We miss-read Rhoda, our SatNav, around Caens. Thankfully it happened at the ring road junction, so the worst that happened was that we went around Caens anti-clockwise instead of clockwise. It wasn't at all long before Rob and I were back on speaking terms!
