My trip to Comoros Islands was more of an adventure than a visit. As soon I arrived there the amazing nature intrigued me into discovering the wildlife of the islands. The nature was richer that what i had expected with all the endangered species of birds and turtles, and some kinds of fish that you can only find in the Comoros ...
Grande Comore, Comoros nature_lover... famous music artist in the Comoros but has since lost his fame and kind of gone crazy as a result. But how the man can play the guitar!!!! Just beautiful, and the songs he wrote were so heartfelt. All the men at the table knew these songs and would sing along in Comorian. Sitting under the stars by the seafront listening to this and sipping bad Spanish wine has been one of the highlights of this trip. Added bonus - when we went up north we met a man that ...
Moroni, Comoros martaj... day (and the dear man did I will add). If you know me you will know that I have an accute fear of the dark, and so this would be no easy task. I stood staring for a while longer and he motioned me to go... could I handle it? As you can assume I did not go four days witrhout peeing. But you know what? As I crouched there in the complete darkness, sopping wet, hanging onto the moist with only God knew what walls of the most disgusting bathroom I ...
Moroni, Comoros martaj... he took pity on us and gave us their snack supply of some bakery rolls and bananas that they had brought from Moroni. So, our Seagull Moment. On the first day, we were alerted to the presence of a critter in our room - it got into one of our bananas. Sunday, Marta discovered that it had taken some nibbles from her discarded dirty underwear. What? That night, having wrapped up our food items, we went to ...
Moroni, Comoros roseryan... his English isn't much better. Maybe it could work. - The guy who smelled horrible and also happened to be positioned right next to our heads. - The guy who thinks it's a good idea to catch a seagull and show it off in our communal living space. As if it wasn't dirty enough already. - Random mystery bits falling on our faces. We were on the sea - it couldn't have been dirt or dust, so what was the film of junk on my face when I awoke from my ...
Moroni, Comoros roseryan... way back, but no problems. Pack our gear for the climb. Take a long while to sort out how to pay the bill - ended up with euros, euro coins and local Francs, probably paid over the odds, but better than having to sort it out if running late for the plane. Spend a long time killing at least a dozen mosquitoes in our room, a lot with blood in them, but can't find any way they are getting in, though do find a lot of them hiding in the ...
It looks like the bad weather follows us. Not much to see. The Comores look a lot like the Seychelles. The island seems very poor. The peoples are nice but something is missing.
