The third day we headed into Bordeaux. It was so hot, about 37 degrees, but such a beautiful city. We were going to do the 70 minute bus or 60 minute guided train around the city but found a map and decided to do our own tour with Jim reading the map and me taking the photos, perfect.

... to a beautiful day. Still, warm and sunny so after breakfast we set off along the coastline on our bikes to Arcachon. It's all very beautiful with the beach running the distance and the locals and people of Bordeaux making the most of a beautiful Sunday. Many were already on the beach sunning themselves. We rode about 18 km to get to the end of the cycle lane till you can ride no more and its certainly a playground to enjoy the beach scene. ...

We had a nice opening ride today. about 110kms of flat country. While it was nice to cycle on the flat, it was a bit boring. A lot of it could have been in eastern Ontario with fields of corn and soy.
