      ... of the various 'guides' to be told they didn't know anything!

      The bus had an automatic, probably GPS based, system which spouted out information about a site or a building as the bus passed it. It worked well on the way out but was a little tedious on the way back as it duplicated everything; especially when we arrived back at the ship to the 'welcome to Luanda' speech!

      The most amazing building was the one dedicated to Agostinho Neto, his mausoleum, apparently ...

      ... 3 months later they were sent here. they arrived during the war. they said their first missionary home had no electricity or water..but it was on the beach! they said their table was a door and chairs buckets. their first meeting they announced that they were their and asked to stand up...the problem he said was i couldn't see my wife next to me..no power, the speaker used a candle with lots of smoke..they could not leave ...

      A great night last night. I wandered down the pier and was invited onto Elder and Ricardo's boat. I spent a few hours with them just talking, listening to music and enjoying their hospitality. How the other half live!

      They were nice guys but I realised that this lifestyle really does not sit well with me. When I think of all have experienced, the things I have seen, the people have met, I find this kind of excess a little ...

      ... in addition it meant that we actually hardly ever stopped the car to spend any money, except for petrol, so not actually helping the Angolan economy.
      5 days is actually a ridiculously short time and we suspected was just a money making racket as you are fined $150 ...
