... crowded restaurant where I had the most delusions chicken in cream truffle sauce topped off with marinated strawberries, ice cream and crushed meringue, John had a beautiful steak and chips. Once we got to the Eiffel we realised being a weekend the queues were long so we decided to come back tomorrow after we have booked on-line which means we can jump to the front ...

I'm sitting in the Emirates departure lounge in Geneva waiting to board my flight to Sydney via Dubai in 50 minutes. It’s now 1.45 pm local time and I’ve just saw via the SMH site that South Sydney have won their first rugby league championship since 1971. I’m really pleased for Souths although my family has always barracked for the Bulldogs or "Berries" (Canterbury) as we knew them, Souths have seen some ...

Lunch was at "Le Deck" in Chexbres, a modern bar and restaurant at the top of the hill overlooking the vineyards and across the lake to France. An infinity pool on the edge gives the impression of being on the precipice, gorgeous outlook. The food and wine week delicious again - perch from the lake, John's new favorite and sea bass, another ...

Our day trip to Gruyere gave us our country side and small rural village experience in Switzerland. Beautiful rolling hills of green pastures and wooded forests lead to Gruyere, the town famous for that cheese. The old town (for tourists) is a single quaint street with restaurants, hotels, and craft shops. After a coffee and short walk, we had lunch at Le Chalet de Gruyeres, famous for its fondue. We ordered their specialty fondue - gruyere and vacherin cheeses with white wine, dipping ...

... our feet in Le Lac. After Yvoire, we picked up some things from the supermarket and then Carole dropped me off at Camille's apartment. Camille is also in the St. Julien English congregation along with Carole and her husband, Arnaud. I will be staying with Camille during the week. It's great because she lives walking distance from the Swiss border so it will be fairly easy to be do some exploring around Geneva in the coming days. Bonne ...
