    ... I was.... NOT! Our hotel is lovely very perfectly Paris, with the window with the wrought iron safety balustrade, a claw foot bath and fancy wall trim. There is a lovely spa area and common areas, all in all very nice. The city of love turned into a city of sulky silence however after the taxi debacle so we headed out to find some lunch and see the sights in less than ideal circumstances. Found an outdoor cafe and eventually got served, mostly the sitting on the sidewalk ...

    ... the metro (Chateau d' Eau) from near our hotel to Chatelet station down near the river. Was easy to figure out what to do as we had Holly's experience on buying tickets etc.

    Wandered over towards the Pantheon stopping at a medieval garden and ruins of Gallo Roman baths dating from around AD 200. There is a museum housed in the ruins but we just went to the Foret de la Licorne, a medieval-style garden. ...

    ... and also had to keep very quiet inside, but we went straight in without waiting and walked through. Very impressive! Next stop was a trip down the Champs Élysées, known as the most beautiful avenue in the world. It was a long straight road about 8 lanes wide leading up to the Arc de Triomphe, a huge arc like gateway. The roundabout around this arc was incredible. There were cars going every which way, about 8 lanes wide but no lanes marked ...

    ... were divided into 8 sections and they bought their section of outer walls only and made it into their apartment on 4 levels. It is truly magnificent with fantastic views. Really thick walls of rock and mortar.. As soon as we arrived, we had to get into the kitchen to cook dinner for everyone.
