      ... century. It retains one of the most extensive collections of 13th century stained glass anywhere in the world (photos). Each window depicts certain scenes from the bible - quite exquisite. One problem though. The windows are way too high and there is no way you would ever get to see the work involved. Typical French building was filthy dirty, in good need on a scrub and a run round with a vacuum cleaner which other countries seem to manage to do with their national monuments ...

      ... shopping but in the end just couldn't be bothered. We had booked another local restaurant La Pantruche with Steph and Tim and went around to have a bottle of champagne with them first. La Pantruche is always good. I had veal carpaccio which unusually came with squid and carrot purée. Squid and carrot purée went together but didn't think they went with the veal, so I ate the squid and then the veal. Jeff had a beef ravioli ...

      ... time viewing the sculptures of the Greeks, Romans and also the Italian artwork.

      We were so blessed to have beautiful weather. We visited the Luxembourg Gardens one day with all of it's color and floral beds. The palace used by the French government was quite the bookend to a large pond and grand garden of flowers and sculpted trees. We went to the Eiffel Tower on another morning and one more time in the evening. What a landmark!

      ... and chandeliers all create a very ethereal feeling as you walk down the corridor. Off of the Hall is the king's bedroom and state room and further along you see the queen's bedchambers. Everything was opulent and the paintings on the ceilings were most impressive. We then went outside to view the massive gardens.
