... individual coloured flower gardens were beautiful to see. The interior gives an insight into life for the very rich French families and many portraits and precious items were on show. I was taken with the floor of Delft tiles, imported from the Netherlands in their thousands! The round trip to see this was twenty miles and we had to go out later for cakes so a daily total of twenty-six miles.
We woke rather late due to much noise last night from ajacent pitches which had been ongoing for four nights and decided the we had had enough so we moved Nell to another pitch, much nicer actually. We got the laundry done and hung out early and set off to Cour-Cheverny instead of going in search of a vineyard as we felt tired and will now do this tomorrow (plan C). We bought lunch ...
... had been promised on accuweather). We had an emergency situation as we had no cakes for our dessert today so cycled into Cheverny where happily the pattisserie was still open. The weather forecast for tomorrow is for dry, sunny weather so it will be plan B for the laundry which I had planned for today. Also need shopping and have more chateaux to visit. So much France, so little time.
... canopy. We had bought crab for lunch which went very nicely with salad and the selection of good but inexpensive wines we had bought. It is now at 6pm sunny with very humid and cold beer going down a treat! Tomorrow we plan to do our laundry as the weather forecast is for sun all day. There are so many chateaux in this area we will go in search of another one once the washing is pegged out.
After a night of relentless thunderstorms which stretched into the morning too, we wondered if we would be able to get out on the bikes at all, but by the time we had collected our baguette and croissant the clouds had cleared and we were able to have breakfast al fresco as has become our routine, accompanied by chaffinches and bullfinches as always.
