... as people. Of course, as parents, we have a certain amount of control in shaping some of their habits and personalities, but we have come to understand that these "children" are complex and intricate people who are complicated in many different ways. It is the time we have spent with them, that has allowed us to see who they really are. It is a magnificent gift, actually.

... We had just finished watching Gladiator on the bus so I was quite excited to see it in real life. It was truly amazing!! Such a huge part of history!! The size of it alone was pretty unbelievable. All the ruins underneath the city are visible in places too which is quite cool. You can actually see where Cesar would have walked. The original foundations are about 6 meters below the current ground level. The next morning we set off nice ...

The famous tower that leans! This was only a very quick stop in Pisa to but compete tourists :) we couldn't afford to stay much more than an hour anyway because it costs an insane €200 an hour to park in the car park around the corner from the tower. It was pretty cool to see it but it would not be something that I feel I would ever need to see again. We have been so lucky with the weather it has been absolutely ...

... easy to get around Florence because it is almost set up in a grid and all the streets / alleyways go off the main square. That square was absolutely packed with people! There was also a big film crew getting set to shot for the latest Inferno movie. Someone in our hostel saw Tom Hanks the other day filming for it... Wish that was us! We went to a leather shop to listen to a guy talk to us about how to determine ...

The home of Romeo and Juliet :) Of course it isn't a true story but the have definitely made the most of it all. One of the biggest tourist attractions is the balcony that Juliet stands on. They also have a statue of Juliet there and it is said to be good luck if you rub her right breast... So of course I had to do it. Although we were only there for a few hours it seemed like a beautiful place. Lots of little alleyways to explore and huge markets with delicious fruit cups!!! Yum ...
