We left Paris today and said goodbye to our friends. Hopefully it won't be another 20 years until we see them again. Well we didn't stay to listen to the frogs and have moved along to Quarre-Les-Tombes for a night in its Aire. A great stopover in Quarre-Les-Tombes with a little village square, few shops and cafe/bars. We stayed on this fabulous lakeside Aire in Mountsauche-Les-Settons, some lovely walks along the waters edge, Tia off the lead having fun exploring. We parked next to two British Vans and met some nice people, helped Di and Frank with there iPads etc ...
I started my hike at exactly dawn yesterday, and for the first few hours it was wonderful. I kept thinking to myself how I was going to write about how beautiful and empowering it was to walk to so far. And really, it was. For the first 10km, I walked through a national forest.
