We seem to be getting quite good at packing up now but it still has to be done so we had a leisurely morning with Mum and I sorting laundry and packing and the boys working. After lunch we headed back to Laignes for a wander around the little village which is quite quaint and then went to a lake near Marcenay only 10 mins away. We had a walk along the lake and in the forrest, but nothing too strenuous. There was a ...

... a black bear (snoozing), Canadian wolf (prowling), bison (snorting), camels (sneering), big pigs (snuffling) and deer (hiding) - but no partridge or a pear tree. The raccoon was cute peeping out of his tree house and the porcupine's were alarmingly big - and spiky. ... thro the village esp as it was harvest time. There was even a notice in the Spar shop warning of 'mouissons' on the road which, when we asked, worked out were combine harvesters! The gite is an original 1600's farmhouse, fully modernised (except no dishwasher, so the boys had to step on domestic chores!) and the nearby church is 13-14th C altho we didn't manage to look inside. Andy had done a few runs around the village and neighbourhood so gave us a nice ...

Wet day in Gigny

... finished in NZ (I think - we seem so separated from all the routines and lost track of weeks etc.). Guy was determined to have a swim every day so despite it being rather more chilly, he still had a dip in the pool - and a nice hot shower afterwards! Andy's method of swimming lengths to get warm was pretty effective too. We had steak frites for dinner (again, but it's so good) and Mille feuille for pudding, very rich and sweet but perfect. Matthew set up 'Who wants ...
