... them! The cathedral has some magnificent flying buttresses, plus some fabulous Gargoyles (water spouts). We rounded off our lightning visit with dinner in an Italian restaurant which was run by two women who did everything themselves (serving people, cooking all the food, preparing the drinks etc) all with friendly smiles, little chats. ... survivors said that the Germans celebrated all night, eating the food and drinking the alcohol stolen from the houses. In the morning they buried the dead in mass graves. It is a very sobering experience to visit the monument and the remains of the town. The remains of the town have been kept completely untouched so that the world can see what happened. The museum has photos of many of the murdered people, and provides details of their lives. The ruins ...

Our first stop today is a place called Rocamadour which is famous for its setting in a gorge and on a cliff side, its monastic buildings and historical churches which have been visited by pilgrims for centuries. In fact the subterranean church of St Amadour dates from 1166. I will let the photo's do the talking for its spectacular setting. But it is breathtaking.
