I write this entry from our little room in the mountains by the Gorges De Verdun, sitting by the open window and being serenaded by crickets. It is dark and peaceful, with no noises around other than the sounds of nature. So different than our room last night--which was just inches from the train tracks that carried the speeding cars by and sounded as if they were in our room!
... found a restaurant whose plate of the day was chicken with potatoes, peas and a citrus sauce. It had been awhile since we'd had chicken ... So many restaurants serve mostly meat dishes... So we all ordered the chicken. It was tasty, but once again we were ingesting everyone's smoke. We strolled home keeping an eye open for shops that would sell nougat but only the restaurants are open around ...

Canyon du Verdon
Another 300 miles into more mountainous countryside brings us to the hair raising mountain passes of the Verdon. Finding our campsite that we visited briefly last year on our Europe Trip, we were able to find a super pitch, lots of space and nice and quiet, different to our overnight stay last year in July when it was packed with noisy families!
