        ... start our decent. Feeling inspired our imaginations brew with future plans of van renovations and climbing trips. By 13:00 our bikes are pulled over on the side of the road and we are hunting for a flat grassy patch for the tent. Successful in finding a spot we set up and get settled. We haul our sleeping pads, books and munchies to the rivers edge and spend the afternoon watching rafters float by. Looking at our map it may be these are our last few days in France. Italy here we ...

        ... our one hour pleasure cruise at an end, we made our way into the town of Moustiers. I was gradually getting my appetite back (still not 100% but 100% better than yesterday) and craved some frites (chips). Despite the abundance of snack bars, cafes and restaurants open at 4.30pm on a Thursday afternoon, not one of them did 'frites' at this time of the day. So ice-cream it would have to be.

        ... along the banks. At Rougons, by the Point Sublime, the river plunges into the narrow rock walls, and there's no escape until it comes out the western end before flowing into Lac de Ste Croix.

        ... and hotels and opposite the sandy beach crowded with very suntanned scarcily clad bodies. Then a leisurely meander along the coast road through Juan les Pins, around Cap D'Antibes past La Garoupe where we had many happy holidays with Ruth & Sally.

        ... lazy river that carried us just downstream so we could get up and walk back and do it all over again.This was the icing on the cake, and a perfect end to a beautiful day from start to finish.
        We feel we've seen a little of the hidden gorge off the beaten track today but as the pioneer; Edouard Martel; discoverer of the canyon said ' It would take at least twenty trips through the canyon to dare deem you have seen it'
