... After last night's debacle, I did some early work on the ipad, and found a camp that read well, right on the shore of Lake Garda.... I must admit, it wasn't difficult as I think there was a choice of close to 50 - seriously.
So, with an early start, we arrived early, hit the supermarket, and then checked in, and was able to secure a spot literally right on the water-front, with ...

Stoker's quote of the day: "Chris, is this supposed to be a holiday?"

You know that feeling, your hands are so cold you can't feel the brakes? Well that was me for the first 30 minutes of descent from the top of Col du Galibier.

The day started quite well. Good breakfast at the Hotel du Soleil (although when we arrived yesterday hotel du pluie ...

... got better as we left behind the cloud cover on the top of the mountain, and the sun brought welcome relief from the freezing cold.

Once past the twisty bits, there is a long straight slightly undulating stretch that is perfect for tandems, and we were able to settle into a comfortable 35 kph and enjoy the scenery.

We stopped for a mint tea in Bessans, and then carried on the D902 then D1006 along the valley towards Termignon. ...
