... the front has parts that look like the sketch remains of an animal. inside is even more amazing. There are rooms that seem to look like the rib cage of an animal. The thing I loved the most about the house was the wonderful amount of light that is let in by skylights and light wells . . The roof with its chimney is amazing. The hostel is only 3 or so months old so everything's is brand new ...

By the time we checked out it was 11 so we had an early lunch at subway then went to look at Placa de Catalunya, the main square in Barcelona. After that we walked up Passieg de Gracia to see the 2 famous Gaudi buildings. They look like something out of a fairy tale! The second one was unfortunately covered up, they ...

... was closed for services when I first arrived so I took a funicular up the mountain side where there are several hiking trails. The signage is poor, and I ended up on a longer trail than I had intended, with significant elevation gain. But the view was stupendous, I'm sure I saw past the Pyrenees and all the way into France! It was a 550 meter (about 1700 ft) descent back to the Monastery on hundreds of steep steps and long gravelly trails. I then stood ...
