We arrived back in Cairo mid afternoon on the first of Feb. Things got very hectic from here on in. The traffic was amazing. A few vehicles had lights, most were dented, there were three streams of traffic travelling at 80kms or so in 60k speed zones and in two marked lanes of traffic on the sharia Salah Salim. I don't remember too many traffic lights either. Trucks with loads of soil roared past showering us with dust, grit and shingle. Tooting was constant, even at midnight. Arrived on overnight train at about 7:30 am. Unfortunately, no idea how much a taxi should cost to our hotel. Didn't even know where the train station was on a map. Absolutely no taxi stand, no signs or tourist people to help. We wander outside and of course the taxi touts find us. They ask where we want to go, tell them, they say "ok". We'd read that the best way to get a taxi in Cairo is just to get in, don't talk price, just let them think you know what the price should be and when you get...
