Historical Traveler Reviews of Le Meridien Pyramids Giza
OK if you get the "right" room
from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at Le Meridien for 3 nights in March 2005. Having arrived at nearly midnight we were given a room in the older block near the pool. It was extremely basic (and dirty) and certainly not up to 4 star standard. We asked to be moved immediately but we were told that this wouldn't be possible until the next morning. We were eventually moved late the following afternoon and that was only because we absolutely insisted that we be moved to the newer block. This second room was fine if a little noisy. If you are allocated a room with a number in the 600's it will be in the old dirty pool block - take my advice and stand your ground and get a non 600 room as they are in a totally different class.
On a more positive note the hotel pool is very nice, over looking the pyramids and the restaurants (especially the Mexican) were very good.
Spring Break

Stayed here from March 18th through the 22nd. Great hotel and a very good location. Others have commented on noise but we did not notice this as a problem. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. We did not see many Americans at the hotel or anywhere else for that matter. Nice trip and a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting the pyramids.
Lobby good, rooms terrible
from Braindrain
This hotel is rated as a 4 star in Cairo and is extremely convenient for sightseeing the Pyramids and Saqqara. The lobby is extremely beautiful and there's a great view of the Pyramids. However, the rooms are in terrible shape. The doors use actual keys, the beds are dirty, the bedrooms dank, and no A/C whatsoever.
The good news is the restaurants and in-room dining. Cairo is a pretty cheap place to eat, period, and the restaurants are no exception. Their quality of food is also pretty good. A word of warning to not try their "pub/sandwich" food since it's not that great. In-house laundering/dry-cleaning is very cheap and prompt.
In the morning, there is a great breakfast buffet that's included in your room price. There's also a currency exchange outlet right in the hotel.
I was going to give it a one star but the lobby and restaurant food bumped it up to a 2 star. Still unacceptable for a 4 star hotel.
Beyond Expectations!

The best, from the bedding to the service! Our room was immaculate with Egyptian cotton/down comforters. There was a bank on site, spectacular lobby, full breakfast, fantastic heated pool with a view of the pyramids and excellent service. There's even a spa (although we were too busy siteseeing to take advantage). This is the place to stay!
If you want a pyramid view from your room, make sure to request an upper floor so you can see them all. Or a room with a view of the pool and two of the pyramids is lovely!
Best hotel ever!

If you get the chance to go to Egypt - Stay at this hotel. It is just beautiful, with far and away the best service I have ever had at a hotel. From the hibiscus welcome drink to everyone from the concierge to the bellman remembering your name to the many flowers various staff gave me during our stay (the pool bartender even brought a vase of pink coloured water for my flowers!). It just blew us away. Spectacular view of the pyramids from our room, walking distance to shops, restaurants (the restaurants at the hotel were fantastic and extremely reasonably priced)and of course the pyramids. We also stayed at the Oberoi Mena House - even though that hotel was great as well - Le Meridien was a much better value and much more personal service.
Great hotel, good location

Stayed here for 3 nights from 29 Nov 2004. Very friendly welcome, even at 3 am. Nice big room, good bathroom. Excellent breakfast buffet. Staff very friendly, service excellent. Only drawback is distance from central Cairo, about 35 mins by taxi. Worth paying extra for the pyramid view rooms.

Excellent Hotel !!

We stayed at the hotel from 9th September until 18th September and loved every minute of our stay.
The location and facilities in the hotel are excellent. The Royal club rooms with a Pyramid view are spacious and very comfortable, especially considering the price.
In my view the thing that seperates this hotel from others I've stayed in, is the superb service given by it's staff. They all give excellent service and make you feel very special. In particlular, the staff from the Pool area and Royal Club lounge were amongst the best I've ever met.
It's not over the top to say I've stayed in far more expensive & more highly rated hotels, that do not come close to the level of service that we experienced during our stay.
I can't recommend this hotel enough !! Superb.
Loved it!

This hotel is excellent - friendly staff who can't do enough for you. the rooms are quite big and very clean. Room service is excellent and very cheap too. The only complaint was that the water in the shower and from the taps was brown but we assumed this was a problem in Egypt rather than the fault of the hotel. Highly recommended.
