Dear Habbibis (Egyptian for loved ones): I've gone from sea to shining sea: Sea of Galillee to Dead Sea to Meditteranean Sea to the Red Sea on this trip. It seems that I have found my way back to the Land of No T.P. I'm in the Sinai now, which is effectively Egypt w/out the need for a Visa. It took a good bit of time and coordination to get here. I had plans to fly but after some deliberation decided instead to take the bus. Time was about the same, logistics easier, cost was cheaper and got ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt trockieGood news! I was able to dive today with absolutely no ear or sinus problems. Thank you, thank you Jane- I owe you! The first dive was OK. Saw some fish that were native to the Red Sea and one of Doug's favorites- an octopus. I was suprised that it actually came out of its hiding place and moved along the bottom a bit. No Doug, this Dive Master (DM) wasn't as cool as the one in Hawaii as she didn't catch it for us to play with. I told her about our experience there however, and she said, 'Oh ...

... on a new trip that arrived here today. beers will be consumed toi celebrate!!
The other notable thing we have doine is to climb the venerable Mount Sinai (where Moses received the 10 Commandments) yesterday morning. We did it to watch sunrise over the Sinai area, so left here att 11pm Sunday night, and climbed the mountain in the dark for three hours before getting a pretty good vantage point amongst the 100's of others up there. The walk itself was not too steep ...
... where you go, what you do, what is your job, how many Dollars your motorbike, where is your wife, etc, etc), I arrive to Dahab to get my urgend required holiday.
Dahab is an amazing place to observe, how nice it could be in Egypt, with a holiday perfect beachfront. Happy End???
... to do a naturalist dive (looking at fish), a navigation dive (navigating using a compass under water. Much more difficult than on land, but Sarah was a natural), a night dive (she saw a squid ink!), a deep dive (at the canyon) and a drift dive (diving with the current, she did this at the blue hole).
Her instructor was Rob, a Welsh man. They got along quite well, and he even invited her to stay with him for the rest of her time in Egypt, which was very tempting ...
... fair go and try another day. Andy and Duncan, on the other hand had enjoyed the day - though they too had struggled. Day 2 was better conditions, but in the end Maddie and I both decided this wasn't for us. We were able to maintain our dignity - we didn't panic or do anything obviously lame, and we might have been happy if we weren't meant to go any deeper (we were a few meters under water), but we could see the sea floor slipping down into the dark abyss and we knew that is where ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt hamiltonfamily... move! For dinner we ran the gauntlet returning to Same, Same as it had been so good the first night. By now the restaurant touts were catching on to me saying that we might go in their place the next night as a few said 'you promised yesterday you would come in'! I needed to get some new lines. March 30th - St Katherine's Monastery & Mt Sinai An early start today as we had a 2 ½ hr drive through northern Sinai to St Katherine's. There were many military checkpoints on the way ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt chris.cesca... both lead to the final 750 steps (they call it Elijah's Basin) which is about 300m from the top. That took us about 40 minutes, and we arrived at the top of the mountain around a 3:45 am. We rented both mattresses and blankets to keep us warm as we waited for the sun to rise around 6:30. Our guide showed us a cool place to rest upon, we were basically on a roof of a building sheltered a bit from the window by the mountain. Sunrise at 6:30 was amazing and ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt evelyn.ngSo our journey to Dahab involved a ferry at 4 in the morning to Sharm El Sheik which was very rough and freezing cold due to over the top aircon. We then had to drive to Dahab which involved a white knuckle drive in a taxi while I contantly was looking for the 'oh ****' button. The driver even managed to screw up something on one of his wheels (smelt like brakes actually) due to his crazy driving at high speeds with arabic dance ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt rhibeez... international roaming, was good to hear from everyone) and then sat on the bus for about 20 - 30 mins while our exit stamps and exit fee was paid then the hydrofoil arrived - it was called the Queen Nefertari. We got off the bus and put all our bags on a cargo container then we boarded the boat. We sat down at some groups of tables and we filled out our entry card for Egypt and then that was organised for us and so we started playing cards. We played for about ...
