We begin our day with a city tour of the city of Tours - once the capital of France. There is a University here, and a youthful vibe mixed with well-restored antiquities (of the architectural sort). Our leisurely ramble through town concludes at the City Hall, and a lovely lunch at Cafe L'Univers just across the street.

Our original afternoon schedule called for a short bike trip along the Loire River, but half of the group is not interested ...

We meet Catherine at the Tours train station. She is from the area, and will be our guide for the next six days. She takes charge right away, and is ...

In the dining room, we noticed the inner table fork was placed with the prongs facing downwards. This is as a result of an instruction from Louis XV, who was tired of snagging the lace on his sleeves on the upturned forks. ...

We arrived in Blois a delightful town which we enjoyed very much. We got off to a great start by taking a wrong turn and finding a perfect place to stay for the night. Blois is full of the history of French kings, there follies and intrigues. A small portion of which was dramatically revealed in an illuminated light show projected on ...
