As we now needed to be in Barcelona in 5 days to meet Kim's mum it was time to say goodbye to Italy. As the day was overcast and the drive on the autopista easy we just kept on driving (from 8am until 5.30pm) and arrived into Les Acrs in France time for a beer and dinner then bed.

... on Sundays, when nothing really opens – the French here observe their ‘dimanche’ a lot more than we do at home, which I think shows a great respect for tradition, even if it is religious, and for the importance of spending time with family. But there’s still one French tradition I can’t get used to: men kissing each other on the cheeks...God knows what would happen if they put mistletoe into the equation!

Plan was to stay in Avignon but when we arrived we decided it was too big for us and after driving around the outide of the ramparts of the old city walls - very cool and the main thing we wanted to see - we made our way onwards to Fontaine de Vaucluse which is 20kms past Avignon. We arrived just before dark and found an Aire de Service at the edge of town where settled in for 2 days. The town ...
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France darrenhough74... made some friends had we the time and resources to put together costumes... I decided we were dressed up as Canadians, which I thought would have worked great until Tom pointed out that Canadians would probably speak more French. But we weren't really left out, there were only a handful of people dressed up. Overall; here is the tally of costumes in Aix on halloween: 2 girls in witch hats (with one stocking each), 5 ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France tommcattWait a minute, we’re not traveling to Italy until tomorrow…but we spent the day in Arles exploring Roman architecture.
The biggest site in town is the amphitheatre, or coliseum. Glimpses through different side streets pull you even closer like the hub it has always been. Huge in scale, some seating is till original and large towers give sweeping views of the ...
... add details, and as Vincent so skillfully did: show movement and texture with brush strokes. As I photographer, I must only capture what is there. Although I can make some minute adjustments, it’s reality. So many times I wish a tree would just move to the left, the shadow would fall differently, or that a person would get out of the way! In the few ...
Arles, Provence, France 2totango... and saw him at 10.10. Got out by 11.00am. It was then back home to update the blog and try and burn some video footage. Not having much luck so far. For lunch we were joined by Madeleines friend Michelle from Marseille. We had a nice goats cheese and tomato salad and stuffed capsicum with a meat filling. Sophie, Madeleine and Michelle went for an after lunch walk, Serge went to see Sebastian at his work and yours truly continued battle with the burning of footage.
Laris, France sophieandmartinHi there, Today we went to L'isle Sur Sorgues a very picturesque town, full of stone buildings, small creeks and water wheels. The market was very good. Heaps of homewares and the usual assortment of food, jewellery and clothes. We stopped for a cold beverage, i had a Campari and grapefruit juice. Lunch was on the way to our next destination, a picnic on the roadside. The ever trusty baguette with tomatoes ...
Laris, France sophieandmartin... a good enough excuse to have lunch at another cafe. I had the quarter chicken and chips. The chips came out as sliced potato, seems like i need to work on my french translation a bit more. All washed down with another lovely french ale. Walked around the markets and then drove up to the Luberon Mtn range. Great views from the top and took the tourist route home. It had ...
