A beautiful building on the cliffs of the St Lawrence Seaway. In summer the verandah would be a delight. Stunning, even at this time of year. Large light room, with a great bathroom. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious, and the cloudberry soup amazing. Service in the dining room a bit haphazard but friendly staff.

From Labrador City south to Manic-Cinq the road is dirt, of varying quality. Found this quite surprising given the number and size of the mines in the region. There is a rail line connecting to Sept-Iles on the St Lawrence, and the majority of the ore is transported by rail, but there were still a reasonable number of large transporters on the road …

A Baie Comeau on se croirait au bord de la mer mais en fait on est au bord du fleuve St. Laurent. Beaux paysages maritimes

... we scored a great place (minus the biting black flies!) where we were able to park both our trailers on the same site and with room for the screen tent too. Once we were all set up Jim didn't waste any time starting his charcoal for the feast he and Kerry were making. Chili with biscuits! Jim has these cool 'Lodge' pots where you can put charcoal bricks beneath the pot and it all cooks ...

... right beside the lighthouse, sheltered a bit from the wind. This was a good lunch because it included beer :) and Debbie needed one. Unfortunately we didn't get to see any whales but we sure did see a lot of seagulls diving for their lunch. We also explored the rock formations with the strips of 200 million year old lava rock. On the other side of Baie Trinite was a big, beautiful beach with a low tide so we did some beach ...

... whale go by the bay! He wasn't up to putting on a show for us-we just caught a couple of glimpses of him. By this time we wanted to lay some tracks to our next destination, Godbout, the town from where we will be taking the ferry over to Matane on Wednesday. The scenery was just beautiful, a lot of it reminded us of our trek across Newfoundland. A lot of the vegetation and views of the St. Laurent river were the same. Once we landed in Godbout, we ...
