A beautiful building on the cliffs of the St Lawrence Seaway. In summer the verandah would be a delight. Stunning, even at this time of year. Large light room, with a great bathroom. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious, and the cloudberry soup amazing. Service in the dining room a bit haphazard but friendly staff.

        To the ferry and beyond.....

... we scored a great place (minus the biting black flies!) where we were able to park both our trailers on the same site and with room for the screen tent too. Once we were all set up Jim didn't waste any time starting his charcoal for the feast he and Kerry were making. Chili with biscuits! Jim has these cool 'Lodge' pots where you can put charcoal bricks beneath the pot and it all cooks ...

        On the hunt for whales!

... right beside the lighthouse, sheltered a bit from the wind. This was a good lunch because it included beer :) and Debbie needed one. Unfortunately we didn't get to see any whales but we sure did see a lot of seagulls diving for their lunch. We also explored the rock formations with the strips of 200 million year old lava rock. On the other side of Baie Trinite was a big, beautiful beach with a low tide so we did some beach ...

... whale go by the bay! He wasn't up to putting on a show for us-we just caught a couple of glimpses of him. By this time we wanted to lay some tracks to our next destination, Godbout, the town from where we will be taking the ferry over to Matane on Wednesday. The scenery was just beautiful, a lot of it reminded us of our trek across Newfoundland. A lot of the vegetation and views of the St. Laurent river were the same. Once we landed in Godbout, we ...

        TLH Day 1 of 9

The weeks leading up to departure were a bit stressful. I have read a few stories of people who have cross the TLH. These stories range from an easy crossings with no issues on street bikes, to multiple punctures, and even a medical airlift out of Goose Bay for one poor soul. The province of NFLD will issue you a satellite phone for emergencies (that you can drop of at the other end) free of charge. You would be foolish not to take advantage of this. I found ...
