Hideaway Voodoo
Off to Hideaway island today for snorkelling! We drove to where we boarded the boat to get across to Hideaway, it was a long wait for the boat so while we waited Dad and Todd helped local kids bring in their fishing net.
We saw the boat coming across from Hideaway then all these men carried this man out who was unconscious. Everyone from …
Snorkelling for 3 hours straight!
Woke up had breakfast, after breakfast felt very sick, must be the malaria tablets! Stopped taking them.
Got taxi to Port Vila, went to fruit markets and shops. Took in all the culture, i noticed that Vanutuans love their families! You'll see families set up a stall at the fruit market and the father will be selling, the mother was taking …

Flight - Air Vanuatu - Sydney > Melbourne > Vanuatu
Arrived in Vanuatu at 7pm, we had a welcome performance and were given shell necklaces - so cool! We all squeezed into a van and went to Le Lagon our resort. We past a Gaol and it had barbed wired around it and it looked like you could get out so easy and there was one massive guard …
Week in Vanuatu
Flew to Vanuatu with Mark & Leigh & Mitch & Nath. Met Brad over there as he had been building a school for the last 10 days with a group of guys from church. It was amazing how quickly they had built it as it was 2 levels and had a separate block for the caretaker.
We were staying at Le Lagon which …

The locals are big and athletic so it is not at all surprising that they are good players. Physically, they are different from the Samoans, who are (relatively!) smaller and very muscular! Many of the Samoans look like weight lifters, and the men are pretty big as well!

Historical Traveler Reviews Warwick Le Lagon Resort & Spa, Vanuatu Port Vila
Will be going back
We travelled to Vanuatu for our wedding, the staff were fabulous taking care of all the stress and worries. The day was perfect with no problems, food, beverages and guests were all well catered for. Wished we had of stayed longer at this resort rather than 4 nights next time it will be a weeks stay.
Highly recommend stay for couples and families - children well entertained. Resort very pictureseque with all facilities and private beach. Too far to walk into town but be adventurous and hire a car for the day and mix with the friendly locals.
Will be planning a trip in the near future.
Sensational for families
Recently returned from 6 nights in Vanuatu staying at Le Lagon in 2 interconnecting (not adjoining) rooms. With 4 childred under 5, facilities / activities for the kids were a must, and they had plenty.
Only 1 pool but plenty of room with additional heated spa and baby's pool. Lots of activities all day including pool basketball, volleyball, soccer, sailing lessons, beach volleyball, etc etc. The guy's running the activities are very friendly and create a good atmosphere around the place.
Didn't use the kid club but by all reports was excellent.
Get the all you can eat and drink package which is great value and includes all the soft drink, beer, wine and local spirits you can drink. Tusker beer (local brew) was very good.
Food in the buffet I would have to say is 'so so' but if you need food, and you need it fast, the buffet was just fine. The restaurant adjoining which is also included in the 'all you can eat and drink' deal was much much better but not with 4 little kids. Lots of people put their kids in the kids club and ate in the restaurant.
Some cheap specials on laundry are included in your room, so make sure you use the special form or it becomes quite expensive.
Taxi into town costs Aus$4-$5.
Good massage down by the beach is recommended.
My bill for the 6 nights was about $50 and was mostly for laundry and icy poles which are not included.
Memorable
We have just come back from Vanuatu. We went over for our Wedding. A rather large group of us stayed at the Le lagon. Once we arrived we went to our rooms. There was a slight mix up with our rooms. Due to the large family numbers and having the same last name it was quite understandable. The sevice was excellent and the food was also very good. You have 2 restauranats to choose from. Also a bar-b-que by the pool area. the Le lagon is definetly not a bring your own. Units are on the smaller side and there are no cooking facilities in the units. There is certaintly plenty to do there and it is a great family resort and for any age in fact. Le lagon did our wedding very well we were happy with the ceremony. We also had the reception at the legon and that went well. I must say we had a few changes along the way with the receptiion. I would agree to having the Marque on the beach then it was shifted to the lawn things like that. In the end it was a wonderful Wedding and all enjoyed themselves. Vanuatu is a lovely place to visit and we shall go back. We had a group of 51 people and we all intend on having a reunion in 2 years time in Vanuatu. I reccomend the Le lagon to stay for comfort and astomosphere.
Can't wait until our next visit
After being let down by P&O's Pacific Sky, we opted for a trip to Vanuatu. We couldnt have been more pleased with LeLegon and the all inclusive package, it is definately the only way to go. Just wish we had taken our daughter, but she will be going with us next year. The rooms were a little small but we were very rarely in them with so much to do on the island. The food and staff were delightful.
Great for families
My family and I have just returned home from Vanuatu. We stayed at Le Legon Resort. What can I say? It was paradise! The kids were taken great care of by the resorts kids club, infact we hardly saw them. My wife and I were spoilt by their local staff and I recommend the all inclusive deal. It is what it says, all meals FREE, and all local beverages Free. It saved us a fortune! But 1 thing purchase the deal as part of your holiday. It is much more expensive to purchase the upgrade at the resort. I can recommend this resort to couples or families. Go there you will be glad you did. In fact we are going back later this year.
Where going back
Our recent trip to Vanuatu where we stayed at La Lagon in Port Vila was our first time out of Australia. The trip was viewed as a holiday, naturally, and also a learning experience in terms of gaining travel knowledge for future international travel.
However, due to the natural beauty of Vanuatu tourist attractions, coupled with the excellent service and facilities at Lagoon were going back. I highly recommend La lagon to others and in particular familys with children as there is much for them to do within the resort, in particular a wide range of water sports.
Hot, Sticky but wonderful
Port Villa is such a beautiful place, the people a little reserved but very warm. The weather was extremly hot and sticky. Le Lagon was very disappointing as far as our rooms went however it really is one of the better ones on the island. We had deluxe rooms but quite frankly they were far from it. We had problems with the plumbing we had workmen working right on the stairs next to our room throughout the day hammering and banging away. I could have been more assertive and demanded a change but I wasn't but there were many others who had the rooms changed for the same reason. Be warned if you smoke don't run out of cigarettes as you are unable to buy any at the resort. I was sorry I did not take the all inclusive package (but I was not offered it) as this was very good value as things are quite pricey. When it comes to happy hour prices be warned you are told different things daily. We went to the Warwick Fiji last year and Le Lagon does not come close but it still was most relaxing.
Love La Lagon
My family have just returned from our second visit to La Lagon, it was exceptional value for money once again. We had the meal package, with two growing boys this is essential, the service, the people and the atmosphere are all wonderful, I would reccomend this location to any family. Fantastic.
Great All-Inclusive Package
We had the good and the bad of Le Lagon. The resort was chronically over booked when we arrived and so we were bumped to another place for 3 nights. However, we had only made reservations the week before and were warned that this may happen.
I cannot mention the place we stayed at for 3 nights - it was horrible.
When we finally arrived at the resort it was great. Rooms were well appointed - a bit on the small side but all led directly outside. Our Children (aged 8 and 10) had a separate room which was great.
They adored the kids club and came and went as they wanted. The activities are super - well planned for all ages and flexible as well. My kids favourite was the excursion to an animal reserve - snakes draped everywhere - or so I am told. The night time bon-fire was also a hit.
I have to highly recommend the All-Inclusive Package. Absolutely worth it. All your food is included as is the house wine (quite good), local spirits( the same as here - almost). My daughter loves prawns so every lunch she would sit down to 2 servings of the BBQ King Prawns - as happy as a pig in mud. You can choose to eat at the BBQ Grill but he pool, in the A La Carte Restaurant or in the Terrace Cafe (buffet). All good except watch out for the buffet lunches - a bit dodgy.
The BIG downside of this resort is the Reservation/Booking section. I spoke with many people staying at the resort and most had been bumped to another place for at least one night because of over booking.
One poor family spend 3 out of a 6 night holiday at another resort - they had not been warned before leaving Australia that this was even a possibility - also they had fully paid monthes before.
So the moral is be very very certain of your reservation and ensure they have not double booked you. If I were you I would ring every second day in the week before you get there..
A great value for money family vacation
A great family resort. The all inclusive package is great value for money. The food is wonderful and has either buffet or a-la-carte included. We took my mother there for her 60th birthday in April 2004 and she loved it. We had a cake organised for dinner one night and the band and staff all sang Happy Birthday. Very memorable. The rooms are the only thing I would say could use a bit of doing up, but for the price it served its purpose as we only slept there anyway. My kids were constantly occupied with all the activities, volleyball, soccer, croquet, cricket, canoeing and lots more. We were more inclined to just relax by the pool, so everyone was happy.
