    Today we ticked off several more Cols on the Route. The highlight though has to have been the decision to deviate from the RdGA. We travelled up over the Col le Bonette. What a fantastic ride.     ... area. If I'm honest, it looked like some of the bleakest parts of the Rhondda valley. Dark, grimy, houses just like in South Wales. But in between, glorious glimpses of the bluest lakes within deep gorges. The weather has been disappointing, but we can't hope to have wall to wall sunshine.     ... where we wanted to be (had been given a walking tour map by our Canadian friends) but not where we were. The bus driver aimed to be helpful but couldn't read the map. Another girl who didn't live in the area stopped and tried to help (how often does that happen – when you ask someone, they have just arrived in town themselves or live in another place?)
