We're packed, the van is picking us up in the morning (10 euro supplement because it's Armistice Day, a National Holiday), but I promised to write about Mayer Hawthorne's concert before we left. So I'm getting this blog all ready to fill in the blanks, lest those of you who are waiting to hear about it can't wait until we get home. There's something exciting about knowing an up and coming star--as he's becoming, and even more ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France travelingmom... of the Italian Baroque wing. Then on to the Toulleries Gardens, where we sat and each had a yummy truffle. From there we went to Opera Garnier, which even though the auditorium was closed for a rehearsal, was magnificent! Then a quick crepe stop outside the Madeleine church. Then we walked all the way down the Champs Ellysse to the Arc de Triomphe [decided to not be stupid like aaron and marco who won the trophy for running across the ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France ellemojo... Ja kaiken hyvän päälle koneessa sai ehdotonta lentokoneruokasuosikkiani lihapullia muusilla. Porin reissulla tuli hankittua muutamia peruselintarvikkeita kuten kaura- ja ruishiutaleita. Kyllä nyt kelpaa. Lähitulevaisuudessa siintelee myös jokin aika sitten työkavereille lupailemani suomalainen illallinen. Menu muodostuu ainakin rahkapuolukkapiirakasta kauramuropohjalla, muu on vielä vähän suunnitteluasteella. Kuulin tuossa ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France sannakoo... windows were so awesome, i reckon a return trip in summer is required to get the light streaming in as well. The crypts below were kinda creepy, with so many corpses just left lying around. Obviously the church is not a fan of biological containment and safety laws ;). It was a refreshing experience to visit a church without gawdy gilding and overly busy artworks. Decided to pay the €7.50 to get up the top hoping for a few good ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France labrat... late Friday night and stayed out until ~5am having dinner and champagne/wine. That said, we were diligent tourists and were up by 10am on Saturday to see the city. On Sat we visited the Eiffel Tower, the Hotel des Invalides (which includes a WWII museum and Napoleon's tomb), and the outside of the Louvre. Then on Sunday we saw the Musee D'Orsay and Notre Dame.
Paris, France anneelise84... of my awesome Aussie friends in Montmartre. They also happened to be hanging out with some Mexicans who are on exchange in Switzerland but were on holiday in Paris. So we looked around the Sacre Coeur church with our large group of assorted foreigners, then wandered through Montmartre (home of Amelie) which is gorgeous. Everyone wants to sketch your portrait for large amounts of money. After Montmartre we headed to Notre Dame again, then an ...
Paris, France holljOn Tuesday morning, our alarm went off at 5am to get us to the airport in time for the flight from Nice to Paris. Hang on, aren't we meant to get a sleep-in on holidays? A smooth Air France flight whisked us to Charles de Gaulle airport, and we arrived at our hotel in the 11th arrondissement (district), north-east of the centre of town at around 11.30am. Since this was our second visit to Paris, and hence we'd already done some of ...
Paris, France davenic... so we sat and had a cup of coffee. We caught the 10:15 Thalys train to Paris. Boy did it go fast. It was only one hour and a half to get there. The kids weren't too impressed with it but they did like that we have four seats all facing each other with tables in the middle. Abigail was a little bored but Emma really enjoyed listening to her mp3 player. Got to Paris and had to navigate the metro system. You have to buy tickets and put them through the gate which ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France mom2eae... minimum for one dish!! (that's around AU$100) We weren't even allowed to take a photo of the lobby. Place Vendome The Ritz A typical street in Paris IMPRESSION: Lots of small cars - especially "smart cars". Cars parked bumper to bumper (literally) on the streets ...
