... visited. It Hyper U (visited a few days ago) is on speed and steroids, then this Carrefours must have thrown EPO into the mix. It was so big we even saw some of the shop assistants flying around on roller blades!!! I am not kidding. It is so big they need wheeled transportation to get around. ... a bit. We stopped first to get petrol because we thought this would be simple enough. We are wrong. There were a few pumps but at our one you had to pay by credit card at the pump itself prior to filling up and our card didn't seem to be accepted. After multiple attempts with our card we had to reverse and line up for another pump which you could pay via a cashier at the exit. This was more successful but we had already wasted about 10 mins at the incorrect pump. After ...

... are seeing a France that will not exist in a few years. Already there are many villages that have no services at all but as Jim said, are like a vast outdoor museum of what was - shuttered shops with only faded signs denoting their previous function - café, boulangerie, charcuterie, epicerie, hôtel - long-empty houses for sale with overgrown walled gardens. What we would give to have a garden space like those! We might catch a glimpse of ...
