The small town of Beaune! This city was a very nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Paris and Versailles. The charm of Beaune is that it is in the middle of wine country here in France. There are vineyards that stretch for miles around the borders of the town.

We started the day with a very tasty Beaune breakfast. Croque Madame for myself and ...

... Unfortunately, we booked a train to Beaune, so we had to rush through the exhibit. By 12:15pm we had to go back to the hotel to grab our bags and hop on a train.

... From Beaune, enjoy a scenic ride along Burgundy's Route des Vins ("Wine Road") as you proceed to Macon, arriving in the late afternoon. Here, your France River Cruise Tour begins as you embark your ship.

This evening, you'll gather with your fellow passengers and meet your ship's crew. After savoring your first dinner aboard the ship, enjoy an onboard activity.

... John wrapped up the evening with his Academy Award nominated slideshow of our trip. Working daily and getting the production done, John had put together a great memory of the trip. Thank you John.

Time to wrap up. It was off to bed for an early morning departure for the Dijon train station.

Morning arrives with pack up and the last breakfast. ...

... we wanted to make it back in time to visit the Marche aux Vins (wine market) in the center of Beaune which had underground caves where you could do 10 different tastings but the last admission was 5.30pm. We returned our bikes to our new AFL fan friend and made it to the tastings with a minute to spare. The set up at Marche aux Vins was excellent. You paid your admission and chose whether to taste 7 or 10 wines, they gave you a wine glass and then you were free to walk about ...
