Our final adventure in Normandy was an 1 1/2 hour drive to Mont Saint-Michel. Le Mont-Saint-Michel is an island commune in Normandy, France. It is located approximately 0.6 miles off the northwestern coast of France. The island has held strategic fortifications since ancient times and since the 8th century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name. We spent the weekend in Bretagne, one day in Nantes, and a few days in the sea resort town of La Baule, spending some quality time with family, taking the sun, enjoying the food and exploring the surroundings.

Nous avons passe le weekend en Bretagne, un jour a Nantes puis quelques jours a La Baule. Nous avons pu nous y reposer, profiter de la famille, du soleil, de la cuisine francaise et explorer les allentours.

... beautiful old cobbled streets encircled by a beautiful wall, all sat near to a buzzing harbour where there is a Czech boat-building festival (niche, eh?!). To top off the feeling of stepping back in time, a bedraggled man sat on the side of the cobbled street playing medieval music on his pan pipe as we enjoy the sunshine.

Finally, we drive to our aire on the D292 to settle down for the evening – it has been a busy day and we are very much ready for dinner, box-sets and ...

... in it during the war and now it is just a visitor attraction. On the way back the heavens opened and we got soaked so dived in to a café on the watefront for 2 coffees …6.40 euros no less, now we know why we don't eat out very often. Back up the hill to the van where there are about 30 of us including 2 more English vans. At least we have electricity and wifi here, so I will try to update the blog.
