... kitty sniffing around and Chris gave it a little bowl of milk. I guess it liked the milk since the next day there were paw prints going up our windshield and then a butt print of it sliding down again. I guess it was looking for a way in. We haven't found a cat in the van yet so I guess there was none!

Well it was back to Paris the next day with one last stop off in Versailles. There is always something else to see!

Meandering along the Seine

... south west to Paris. The plan is to visit the villages on the river on the way to Rouen, and are rewarded with their beauty.

We arrive to Rouen late in the afternoon. We eventually and somewhat tentatively settle on a park on the riverside by some docked barges being used as houses.

Kim cooked up gourmet hamburgers which was washed down ...

Its getting cold

Bonjour
It was an hour train ride to Rouen which is a little township north of Paris. The weather has now suddenly got a chill in the air. This must be what real French weather is like. I only came to check out the gorgeous gothic cathedral which rivals the Notre Dame in Paris. I preferred it more because there were few tourists and it is just as large with a creepier outlook, and the organ was amazing. Set close to the ceiling as most of them are, the ...

So after all that, here is where we are at.

We flew into Paris Beauvis Airport and took a shuttle bus the rest of the way into the city. Onto the metro to connect with the main line trains. The metro is awesome and very easy to use. It would be totally idiot proof if I spoke a bit more French and had a better idea as to how the city is layed out, but we will save that for a later post.

I will not be using any contactions in this post because I am typing on a French keyboard and can not seem to find ...

Visiting Monet's Muse

... was very interesting. We were done visiting Monet's house and gardens by nearly lunch so we headed to one of the 'hotels' in the city where our lunch reservations were.

The place we met for lunch was originally a hotel where many artists including Americans came and stayed while studying under Monet. I had a duck salad which was so amazing. They had thin pan fried potatoes on top of the duck meat which was covered with an amazing vinaigrette dressing on a bed of lettuce. I ...

Sacre Couer and Monets Gardens

... I dont know much about it all but I find it pretty! Chris took all the pictures of the building from the outside. It was a great day and the sun was shining making for sum beautiful pictures. The streets are fun to walk around in the area because its the fabric district and there were fun tourist shops all over. We walked through Place du Tertre which is an area for artists to paint for the tourists and sell their work. We even walked ...

What's that smell?

Things that make you go "ewww." 1. Public urination: I'm tired of seeing men pee on the street. There, I said it. I know I normally speak of France as if it's wrapped in a chic lacy shawl, but that's only part of the truth. The other part is freaking nasty...and I'm getting sick of it. And I'm not even talking about drunk men. These are otherwise normal looking fathers who have taken their kids to the park ...

The fleet was in - the Armada at Rouen

... very much. Along the pier, tents hd been set up with brasseries, bars, cafes, shops. It was a very festive afternoon. One really great thing about France they love their doggies, and dogs are allowed everywhere - it the stores, restaurants, and certainly at an event like the armada. And although I had heard that dog poop was similarly everywhere, I have not found that to be the case. For a dog-lover, it is tres bon. Onward! K

French wine and Belgium chocolates

The last two weekends, Lucy and I have been away. While we have been away, we have left Lucy's mum at our place as she is over here at the moment, and as Lucy has felt quite slack about leaving her there, we managed to book a cheap train ticket, with the car to go to France and Belgium for the weekend. We had one problem though, we had had our car serviced, and as much as you would expect your car to run properly, five return trips to two different ...
