After soaking in all the fresh air and clean water and powder skiing we could in 10 days, (it was so nice to see the kids detached from electronic devices!), we headed home to Lyon and to our new flat, leaving the snow and a little Christmas magic behind us.

... t know how, we talked our way in to joining this party and squeezed ourselves into their cars. They drove us to the club. The club was a bowling alley. With a bucking bronco. And a pool table. It was incredible!!! But no one was dancing and no one danced with me. I ordered bottles of champagne courtesy of the birthday boy, who I'm guessing didn't realise I had put them onto his tab until he came to settle up later that night. I, of course, had left ...

So, I've officially moved to The Alps for around 6 months. It is so cold I can't even believe it and there is no snow. Car unpacked and sold.....26,000km and eight months of loyal service! Now all we have to do is cull all this stuff we have accumulated. We're hoping to find a charity shop in Annecy that will take it all......shoes & clothes, chiller bag, thermos flask, pillows etc etc. The good thing about having a car ...

Barbara was excited to finally be in Italy. But she never dreamed she would walk to Italy! The downhill to Refugio Elisabetta was pretty easy and through yet another gorgeous valley. We arrived mid-afternoon. The name of the place made me think of my mother a bit. Wish she was here.
