      Ignoring the typical grey sky of a North German autumn we headed out to the spectacular town of Monschau which was established about 1000 years ago. On the way we passed through Holland and Belgium to reach this small German town, an experience that is incomprehensible to an Australian mindset.

      ... assessed we went to explore old town.

      Old town was really pretty. Nice blue stone buildings all from the local quarry. A castle and a church in the heart of town. There were two similar rock structures which we still don't know quite what they were. These were round semi circles in the rock face. Estimating about 20m high... so large.

      Once we explored the town we went to the larges topiary garden open to the public IN THE WORLD. ...

      Left for belgium this morning. Just entered the french speaking country and I read about some caves in liege, belgium that I will try to find.       On Sunday, we embarked on our journey from Kaiserslautern, Germany to Brugge, Belgium. We had a scheduled FIVE trains to get us to our destination. After misinterpreting our first itinerary and missing the very first train, we were able to catch another train to get us back on track towards Brugge.
