... Every so often these gleaming roads pause for a toll plaza, without warning in some cases. Anyway, we got there swiftly albeit minus a few Euros.

After a few days back in England after our trip from Barcelona we went to the Port of Dover, famous for the song 'The White Cliffs of Dover' sung by Vera Lynn. We then caught a ferry ( by we, I mean us and our cars), and arrived in the French port of Calais roughly forty minutes afterwards. We spread our spotty napkins and began to feast the locals seemed most amused by this but we carried on regardless. Rillettes are a favourite of mine; think shredded pork in pork fat, cold, dolloped onto fresh baguette a feast fit for a king.
