... me three different mattresses, and none of them were foam. One was 85 and the other two were 99. The difference between the two was definitely noticable. Then the dude said that if I got the 99 one he would throw in a set of sheets for free (and they cost 10 euro). So, I took the deal. There was a 50 euro mattress, but it was very thin and for children. It would not have been comfortable for ten months. So, I got a mattress, sheets ...
Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jrsours... so it won't cost so much to get there. I am focusing on having enough money for food, electricity, rent, and a mattress, and Oktoberfest isn't really high up on the list of priorities right now. I will be so excited and relieved when I get everything settled and can really focus on integrating myself and learning German!!
Also I am concerned with the safety at the Oktoberfest.. with hundreds of thousands of people grouped in a ...
... use my fingers to eat wings, but other than that, very delicious.
Tomorrow I have to:
1. get up and go get my apartment looked at by the rental agency to make sure of the apartment's condition so they can ensure that the room is returned in the same condition
2. go to the electric company and sign up so I can have power at my new place
3. go to the bank and finalize my damage ...
... They told us we were at the highest point in Belgium, which was somewhere in the Nature Park.
We decided to call it a day for the roadbook, and make a detour to just get into Luxembourg for fuel, and to make sure we 'did' all the countries.
Looking back that detour cost us some time, but did mean we visited Luxembourg, even if it was too dark to see it.
... on.
We stopped at one point, because the roadbook wasn't very clear, at which point Gaz and Charlotte came up behind us. They had been left behind by the V8s, as they were in a Series vehicle, so we said we'd stick with them.
At this point, Kieran noticed a strange noise from our engine, which was duly investigated by James. It was diagnosed as the fan belt tensioning pulley. But we didn't do anything about it at the time.
... time. That means that some people were eating while other people were done. It was weird, because they knew we were coming and we even had our food pre-ordered, so they knew what dishes to make. I guess it was because we were such a large group, about 80 people.
After lunch we took a walking tour of the city. They split our large group into three smaller groups to make it more managable. The city is ...
... back across town to the saucer station, pausing at St. Paul's and St. Jaques towering cathedrals. We were briefly humiliated by two prepubescent Belgian school girls before we completed our trek, however. One of them politely asked my in French the name of the cathedral that Eli and were snapping pictures of. Content with the name I provided them, they then inquired about the adjacent fountain, to which I quickly pulled out my map. Hearing us orient ourselves ...
Liège, The Ardennes, Belgium dcarlsonI'm still in Belgium... Staying at the hostel in Brussels was great, I met another aussie girl and a couple of aussie guys so it was really great to be with people that speak 'austrayan'! I went out to Brugge for the day and it was so beautiful, after climbing the belfort I walked around the market and the town. It's a medievil city and it's very enchanting... very touristy though. there was a 'winter wonderland' there as well. There were ice ...
Liège, Belgium chibsWe 'trundled down past Maastricht towards Germany. The deviations were big ones but we still were able to make good time! The scenery was worth the deviations though. We past by some wonderful little towns and river gorges. Very nice bit of countryside. Will have to return there sometime, God willing!
I hqve not had access to a computer since last Friday night in Madrid. Saturday I woke up in Spain; Sunday in France; Monday in Belgium. I am in Liege Christine and her family since Sunday. I am finally getting over being sick. But I did a lot even though I was sick.... Today we are going to Brussels. Friday I go back to Paris. I have had a great journey so far. It has been a good experience.
