... I was on Thomas the train with its whistle blowing and steam floating in the air.
The afternoon was spent cruising on the Rhone to Viviers. The ship provided great food and entertainment. We had a live demonstration on making a chocolate soufflé and there was also a nautical talk with a question and answer time for the staff. The afternoons weather was sunny and warm so a ...

Following a good night's sleep, we enjoyed a traditional French breakfast of fruit, yogurt, pastries and of course cafe (coffee). ... Palace. Amazing pedestrian section and lots of boutique and tourists shops where we spent a couple of hours. Day 30: The seafood buffet (rather than a-la-carte) last night was as good as expected. Lobster Ragoulie, grilled King prawns, Oysters, scallops, whole cooked Salmon, smoked Salmon, grilled fish, and lots of other bits and pieces. Sadly the controlled portions of the a-la-carte dining was missing...but what ...

Apparently we had 12 inches of rain overnight and the river has totally changed colour to a rather muddy hue! There is a fault with one of the bow thrusters and divers have to be brought up from Marseilles to deal with what is thought to be a snagged prop. Anyway we are off on our tour of Viviers which is another small medieval town of 4000 in the Ardeche region. It is also the smallest French town to have a cathedral and the new bishop was installed on Saturday. We walked around ...
