On the high-speed AVE train from Toledo to Madrid, and on to Barajas Airport. The monkey girls were waiting in anticipation to see the land of the Moors and the people and cultures within. After organizing (and drying out a bit) at the hotel, they started with their first plunge into an Arabic souk at Tangier's Grand Socco (of course, with the rain pouring). So many tiny little shops selling all sorts of strange items... the girls meandered through the souk's alleys and storefronts, wondering...

... were walking, we
joined the girl and decided to go to Myknes instead. It was late and we had
been on the train for about 7 hours, a spoilt child in our cabin had been
screaming with his mother and grandmother smiling on, and we were fed up. As it
was, we had to walk to the next train station and then take a taxi to Myknes.
The taxis filled themselves up to bursting point (four big adults like us in
the backseat and two in the front) and though cheap enough it was a long ...
Tangier, Morocco shanemilli... rat was amongst the first things we saw. There were a few kids playing too; one of them gobbed on my leg, which was nice.

There were a couple of guys in their wet, see through undies playing Frisbee with a paint can lid. Rather unsuccessful really. Exhausted by the sheer amount of NOTHING we had found everywhere we headed upstairs for a siesta. Since we couldn’t eat, there wasn’t much else to do. At about 4pm we headed out ...
Tangier, Morocco lingo83... had no show. He sold a bit but not the remedy which guaranteed you would lose 8 pounds in a week. He was funny though . Back to the bus escorted all the way down by the bevy of hawkers. They did seem to change as we moved lower so maybe they have their own patch. We also notice that the prices tended to drop quickly as we approached the bus and they got more desperate for a sale. There were some good bargains in the last few metres to the bus. So through ...
Tangier, Morocco daviddx... challenges of travelling independantly here but it has been one of our favourite countries and there really is nowhere else like it. Once you learn to navigate the people then you start to see the best of them and they start to treat you better and you start to really like them. So, we stitch the Moroccan loop up by ending up in Tangier where we started and from where we will fly out to Cairo, Egypt to continue the ride. Ramadan me off! Hurray!!!
Asilah, Morocco inoursuitcaseHello from sunny Tangier! I'd heard a lot about this place before coming here, and most of the reports I'd gotten indicated that Tangier was seedy and that there wasn't much to it. Happily, I've discovered that the reports are wrong. Tangier does have a seedy side, it's true, but it's no worse than any other city in Morocco. There's a cinema that shows local films, there's a writing and translation organization, there's a free ...
Tangier, Morocco laura99... got our tickets from our guide, and went to the gate. Upon entering the boat, I was in shock!!! Of course it was huge, no big deal, but it was sooo nice inside, like cruise ship looking!!!! Tons of seats, round tables, a couple bars, a little store, and a place to go outside and enjoy the view and weather!!!! So we grabbed a beer and headed outside to see the sights!!! Looking back, you could see Spain, the Sierras, and the port!!! Absolutely beautiful!! The ...
Tetouan, Morocco amy22... the deal (recommended in Rick Steve´s) although we didn´t have high hopes for the quality of the tour. The boat was a lot bigger than we expected and was quite comfortable. It left a little late and exceeded the advertised 35 minutes somewhat. The water was not too rough until just before Tangier when I had to go out on deck to get some air. Fortunately my cookies stayed with me. Tangier is 2 hours behind Spain creating an odd time difference when we arrived at ...

We then went to a traditional Moroccan restaurant and had a vegetable soup and a vegetable couscous, which was divine. Our last stop was the British hotel, where they filmed some of Casablanca. We then headed back to catch the ferry back to Algerciras. So now I can officially say I have been to Africa.
TANGER, Morocco jillyfell... tour guide, who spoke English--thank

God--walked me to the main office, and argued in some language for

about 20 mins, and then they said not to worry, the tour van is

turning around... Apparently, I didn´t have the correct documents to

even say I purchased the tour, but I had the sticker they gave me at

the gate, and that seemed to say I DID in fact purchase a tour.... So

my tour ...
