... We had sun loungers in the shade and were given a couple of welcoming fruit punches. We swam in the sea, which initially felt cool but very quickly turned warm, in fact so warm that you could have spent all day in it. This was followed by a buffet lunch served on the beach. Just past Saint Denis, we drove around the base of the steep cliffs of la Montagne, quite an impressive drive. The cliffs are draped high and low with heavy metal netting to catch rock fall. Reunion is a fairly young island, which means the hills and mountains are very steep.
