Traveling from Chamonix to Lake Annecy we went through some breathtaking views through the Alps. The city is quite gorgeous, a favorite Lakeside destination for French families in summer. After a walk through 'Little Venice' taking the sights of a town voted the most beautiful in France, i had a lovely lunch of the local (from Nice) Niçoise salad in a central location before taking the one hour boat trip on the lake. We saw the ...

... So instead of beautiful countryside views, there was a pile of dirt and rubble. So onto plan B. A cheap ACSI campsite 10 km along the road. Far too many hairpins to count! But a fab place. The lake was beautiful and we were treated to the sight of many paragliders flying over us from one of europe's best launch sites for experts. Many were staying on the campsite and landed in front of us on the beach. Two days of wonderful sun with just a light ...

... our opinion, it takes two drivers to be safe when abroad, plus Tom Tom plus a map for overview. We also always make a running commentary on our driving like “I'm going to move into the middle lane when it's clear, OK” You may think it's silly but it works for us!
We have a Liber-t tag for the toll roads which aims to save all that fiddling with tickets and change on the wrong side of the car so this was to be the first trial... I have already voiced my ...
