Day 12 - I think it's time for a ride

... was I glad to see the road level out and drop just as I came into that town. The TdF finishes here on Friday and already there are 9 or 10 motorhomes lined up on both sides of the road just before the town. It was a pleasure today to ride without persistent rain and a chilly wind. With the sun out I might even get a bit of colour onto my legs and arms.

Arrived back at Le Patricia at 3:30 so I was out on the road for 4 hours. ...

... br> After 1hr drive south we were pleasantly surprised when we pulled up out front of Residence le Patricia. Excellent, modern accommodation with a cheerful and very helpful reception girl - Candice (who lived in Mile End 3 years ago).

Down town to the Orange shop to get my WiFi dongle working, then across Sue spotted Galleries Lafayette and .........it's sale time! That place ...

Day 10 - Aix Les Bains discovery

... within 2km of the town centre. A little like Lac Annecy, it has stacks of holiday homes dotted around it's 50km periphery. Aix-Les-Bains also has a real traffic problem - there are almost no traffic lights and most intersections have roundabouts. On some roads in and around the town centre there are zebra crossings almost every 50m which means cars are always stopping for pedestrians. This makes for very slow bumper to bumper drive through the town. A ...

Another beautiful day in Edinburgh, 3 in a row!. Off to the airport this morning. First stop Cousin Wendy's at East Craigs which is on the way. We enjoyed a cuppa with Wendy and Brian before heading to the airport.


Flight to Geneva was via Easyjet, a bit like Jetstar, no frills.

Rochefort

Next day we travelled on through the Vendee and Charente Maritime regions with an evening stay at Rochefort. A very interesting town, haunt of Cardinal Richilieu, and built as a naval defence base by Louis XIV. Much more our style, because it was small enough to walk about admiring the historic buildings and to see the pleasure harbour, and small commercial port. And it's the French home of oysters... Which they grade and sell like good ...
