... asked for the salad and pommes sauted being offered with other dishes, hence were clearly available. This was point blank refused and we were informed that something from the menu had to be chosen? I asked what she could offer for a vegetarian – the woman, presumably the owner – suggested fish. Given that fish is not a vegetable, I find this very surprising and actually quite ignorant.
She then offered a plate of vegetables which incidentally was not on the ...
... anywhere I asked the policeman and he said that it was a tram into the centre number 8 so off we went on that.
We got off as soon as we saw the first hint of a fair and it was so cool. They had 8 different areas placed around the city with lots of crazy fair rides and stalls some had roller coasters and the last one had lots of shops selling food and other things like xmas stuff. We went to them all ...
Made some scrambled egg for breakfast and cups of tea not sure what we are doing today, we went for a little walk around not very exciting and everything was closed as it was sunday. We went on the Internet and back to the room for some lunch of local cheese, pate and bread it was really nice. Its a little boring here and feels like a sunday in Warrington but the whole idea is for us to chill out and relax and recharge our ...

In Münsterplatz we rode the big wheel and got a nice view of the city lights reflecting on the Rhine. After our ride we just hung around a stall selling gluwein, drinking and chatting. Everywhere we went was crowded with people in good spirits and children full of sugar and excitement. Herbstmesse is a fun time in Basel!
... trunk and backseat, we said goodbye. It was a bit sad for me but mom had a really hard time. This is somewhat amusing as when I moved here, she didn't shed a tear when I left, but cried like a baby when Lincoln left later when my sister came to visit.
Anyway, finally they got in the car and I joined the man by the exit so we could wave them along the way. The entire trip mom and dad joked about how happy they are I was with them because without me they just get ...
I have had to work the last two days but I managed to leave a bit early today so I could talk my parents to the Van Gogh Landscapes exhibit at the Kuntsmuseum.
They have enjoyed wandering around Basel the last two days and are now in love with the city. We all really enjoyed the exhibit as well. We decided to go for the audio guides on top of the admission to the exhibit but it was a really great thing to have. The ...
This was what I really came to Europe for. Freiburg was just the beginning of an awesome adventure for me. The mountains and the forest and the cake. We caught a cable car up to the top of the mountain and wandered in the snow. Got some great photos. We made Freiburg our base and toured a fair bit around the region. Spent a night here and there and came back to Freiburg for the festival. Took about two hundred photos in two hours one day; they had a ...
Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandroz... I'm going to try a specialist in NJ when we return----but I digress. I had my usual window seat and at dawn I watched as we flew over the Normandy coast and then down into Zurich. True to their national stereotype, the Swiss are very organized. We had no wait at Immigration. In fact, they seemed much less "concerned" about who was entering than we do in the US. We didn't even have to fill out an entry form ...
Basel, Switzerland phillyphanHi guys Well Rahn finally got his act together and decided to send some pics to his friends and family back home. Well maybe not his act but something came together anyway, its rather sticky so watch your step. Ok so this is not where the journeys begins, if there is a beginning, but I will try and give you some back log along with some pics of the last few months. The most exciting thing that has happened in recent history is the fabulous Fasnatch Carnival ...
