Last stop in France

After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Not the full monte

... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!

Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

... wine bottle and then we thought they were off on the trail, but no they got in the car and drove on!
At the end of the gorge we joined the road towards Cannes, which was route Napoleon, orginially created by him as a pass through the mountains...very windy. Our destination for the evening was Grasse where we found a good park overlooking the city lights and our first view of the Med.

... the wonderful "fun" and "vitamin" radio stations to keep us entertained with "Evacuate the Dancefloor" and 3 other dance songs that they kept repeating.

http://picasaweb.goog le.com/Jonny.D.Lawrence/20090928Cannes? authkey=Gv1sRgCPHzqZ_hy_fA8AE&feat= directlink

Bisous!

We were so excited to have another person travelling with us, that our time spent with Diane was mostly fighting over her for her attention and trying to get her to side with one of us. She was definitely a good friend to both of us ( and didnt favor me, which I thought she should have ...

Princess Lesia of Monaco !

Bonjour! Today we arrive at Monaco! A district of royalty and affluence! The home of Prince's and Princesses! An area visited by many Prince's and Princesses as well as celebrities, millionaires and billionaires! It's a place to see and be seen! It's a location where wealth is a necessity and sophistication is a requirement!

Also today, Elsie celebrates a birthday! Her 60th! That little girl born on ...

Beside the seaside...

It was a pleasing drive towards Nice. Paul sited himself in the back of the car and was much more comfortable (vocally so). We made Cagnes-sur-Mer in under two hours and found a campsite easily enough - not the one I'd planned, but it was fine! - up a pretty wooded valley.

We only had a quick look at Cagnes-sur-Mer on this day. We needed a few supplies so, having put the tent up, we drove down into the town to stock up, and then headed back ...

St. Paul de Vence

Laura Kincade (John's cousin) Vincent and their children Alex and Isabelle arrived late Saturday and left early this am. Sat. night we just sat around, ate pasta, talked and let the kids play and watch French Spongebob. Sunday we went to the beach near Cannes - rocky but lovely and at this time of year, empty. We collected Mediterranean Sea glass and Mimi, bless her got in the water - she so wants to go swimming! I enjoyed ...

NIce is Nice

... forget all of this and relax to the extreme. Monaco is not actually part of France, it is an independent province, whose residents pay no tax. Two things Monaco is most famous for is its Grand Prix, and the Monaco Casino which is glamour to the absolute. Just to sit and watch the cars that pass by the famous casino and its neighbouring 'Hotel de Paris' was amazing, the Mercs, Ferraris, Bentlys, Jags and all the rest.... The ...

At least he didn´t grab his crotch!

... something scarier later - a Michael Jackson impersonator dancing on the promenade. He was "bad" ... it was just plain wrong. And the worst part? He couldn´t even get the easiest part right - though he was a white guy, he still wasn´t as white as Michael is. Would´ve taken a picture but was too scared and ran away screaming and crying when he offered me "Jesus Juice". At least he didn´t grab his ****** like Michael does.
