... I was crazy mad with the speed of the descent.
Not much else happening today, had a nice pasta lunch and may double up for dinner. Cleaned the bike it was filthy with all the rain we have had and watched a little TDF.
We are off at sparrows to drive to Le Bourg D'Oisans to spend the day in the region. I will climb the legendary l' Alpe with its 21 hairpins and the meet Mich at the Saturday markets in Le Bourg.

The descents were frightening and bloody cold, especially from the top of Col de Beau Plan with visibility at about five metres above 1000m. It was a bit of a shock when a deer darted out in front of me. I had my full winter gear on and it was barely enough.
We are off for dinner soon in St Michel then tomorrow two TDF climbs are on the agenda.
We just finished the tour du Mont Blanc - 180km, 3 countries, 9 days! Also some sore feet by the end...
actually it was probably some of the nicest hiking we have ever done - stayed in some lovely hotels and mountain refuges, ate amazing food each day, good wine each night!
Think Andy was a bit de estates to be in Chamonix in summer rather than winter, but ...
... a great place to base so when we come back again that would be my choice. Our hotel has Col markers for sale of the famous climbs, I was quickly told by the manager that I have to earn them before purchasing. Oooh! very protective of their little markers.
On the plus side the weather will improve over the next two days and feel more like summer again by Sunday. Too wet to do much except wash the bike and polish off a bottle of red tonight.

Today was a rest day and we slept in until 10am. I actually felt pretty good after all that riding and only had some sore muscles here and there. After dragging our butts out of bed, we wandered around town to find a cafe to get a coffee and a bite to eat but came out empty handed. Perhaps it was because it was Sunday, but there just didn't seem to be a cafe anywhere. It just seemed so anti-European. We found a patisserie and got some bread and ...
