... piece of steak, some chops and snags will go down very nicely with a local red. I am given a large square piece of slate with salad in the middle surrounded by strips of raw beef and chicken along with tomato and mushrooms. Okay, maybe this is a tartare meal so I begin tucking into the raw beef when the waiter returns with hot slab of granite with a sterno fire underneath to keep it hot. Oaf Eric is foiled again. I will just order a thin gruel next time.

... that I don't know French and I'm Australian. He turns to the children and has an animated conversation with them then they all start bowing madam,,,,madam was funny, They seemed to like that I was an Aussie held me in awe - too funny! No time to explore the gardens here, it took a whole 1.5 hours just to get around the chateaux. Back in the bus and everyone on time, off to the final chateaux for the day, Chenonceau. Adios amigos. Unfortunately there goes another country. A short drive from San Sebastian and we are already in France. We drove right through to Angouleme where we stayed for one night. Went for a bit of a walk around town, not expecting anything flash so the camera stayed at home. Silly!
Anyhow the next day we're off again, this time the destination is Orleans. The old stomping grounds of Jeanne d'Arc. We noticed on the way ...

... thought we were doing well finding the peripherique, the ring road!! Of course in bumper to bumper vtraffic it was a crawl all thye way, changing lanes was a nightmare and Lona had 4 distinct heart attacks, among inumerable panic moments. Of course in all of this mellee we missed the exit to Orleans. Trying to nreverse our direction in the side streets was a further nightmare, so we reverted to Bruce the GPS who took us back onto the ring road, I'm not spelling that ...
