... had to step aside for a while to let them pass on so we could hear ourselves think.

We got back to the car, where there was no parking ticket! I won’t lie, I was kind of nervous. We found our way out to the autostrada, and headed up to Florence. We hit some evening traffic, but it wasn’t all that bad, and after only a couple of missed navigational queues (I miss Utah’s grid system!), we pulled up to the Machiavelli Palace ...

Assisi is a beautiful town. The multi-coloured limestone buildings rise up ...

... After finding our Bed and Breakfast at the top of the hill, we began walking down the hill enjoying the sites as we ambled by. From the Piazza Matteotti we walked to the Roman Amphitheater, the stones of which have long been absorbed into the medieval architecture. The view from town to the valley below is called "The Green Heart of Italy" and it's beauty is simply beyond description! We visited ...

Since the path brought us to the outskirts of town, we realized we were quite close to the UNESCO world heritage site -- the Basilica di San Salvatore. It had some interesting frescoes, but most impressive were the re-purposed Roman columns which made up the interior of the Basilica. We got into the church just a couple minutes before the afternoon shut down (most stores, churches and ...
